Got it...and that's what makes it a really good fake and fakeyer than a "good" fake.

I must say that this clever terminology (which allows each of you to have equal fakes to each other while simultaneously better than the other fakeydoo owner's fake) and catchy new terminology you guys have adopted and drilled into the public psyche and lexicon most effectively and proudly using the "world's" largest and most popular web site dedicated to as we now know them "fake" Cobras and real Cobras was genius! Your intrepid assiduous efforts to truly identify your fake Cobras for what they actually are really clearly sets them apart and most effectively does cast them in their true light as opposed to the term "replica". Love how you guys have "manned up" on this issue. You guys have really carried out and championed the mission of the OP.

Carry on and keep up the great work!

P.S.

In the spirit of assisting a worthy cause I pledge to refer to your cars as "fakeydoos" at all times here and elsewhere wherever I go. Lord knows you guys deserve the help.

May I offer up a "compromise" to this most perplexing conundrum of judging fakeydoos. Seems to me the fakeydoo mission is threefold -

1. You have something that meets the true "spirit" of why these cars were built, it hauls ass and handles. The more it hauls ass and handles the more points.
2. Your fakeydoo's outward appearance from a distance should look close enough to an 'original' to draw any spectator in. The closer to the original you look, the more points you get.
3. Upon closer inspection (engine, cockpit, etc), the spectator reaction should separate the purist from casual Joe immediately. You are only interested in the purist's reaction, the more violent the more points you get. (Example: What an abomination!)

To me a perfect 100 point fakeydoo would be CCRsAC's FFR with ItBites 540 BBC under the hood hooked up to a SuperMatic 4L85-E auto. It just doesn't get any better than that

Oh man, it doesn't get any better than this. So, if you have a fake of your fake, does that make your car the real one?

By the way, the real one is truly superb - an accomplished fauxbra if I ever saw one.

I really must protest here as I claim all legal rights to the term "Fauxbra"™for my Healey-Ford swap. Go ahead, Google "Fauxbra" and see the first entry that comes up: https://www.google.com/search?q=faux...x-a&channel=sb In the best fakey-doo Shelby tradition I shall be filing a trade dress action against all who continue to use the term "Fauxbra" ™ without prior approval and compensation. (All donations go directly to my "charitable foundation")

If you want to get away with the fakery, you gotta spell it right:

(I'm a real jerk about this. "Raydot" drives me right up the wall along with "Sterling" Moss.)

Some beautiful fakery in this highly entertaining thread. There's probably some term to describe this in the antiques world when a fake becomes easily recognizable because it is so much better than the original.

Gpete: exceptional work. Outstanding. Where did you you source the body?

What is the history behind the three tming watches you mounted on the dash?

The body came from Bryan Bumgarner of Missouri.

I saw the watches (two stop and one regular) in various racing cars, mostly Tag Heuer. I liked the idea and the search was on. These are original Smith and came from England.

They are still running precisely.

Outstanding work. Is the body glass or aluminum?

Can you post pics of the chassis?

Evan, what you see is just the icing on the cake. He fabricated the frame himself, and it's truely a work of art. He is a true craftsman of the highest order.

Rezzing and old thread since I really got a kick out of it and was looking for a place to post a Website link for Decals and Battery toppers.

I bought an Autolite Sta-ful decal set to stick on my blank side Interstate battery in the trunk. No toppers though just didn't like the black battery case sitting on the trunk.
This vendor is in Belgium and is fair on shipping rates.
