Evan, if nyg "gets it" then we should all be in agreement no? According to nyg yours is a fake like the rest of them, just a better fake

Btw, your avatar doesn't seem to capture the "real you", not a good fit, try this one on for size, guaranteed to fit like a glove

Ever notice how 99% of all the posts fade out over time and die a natural death while 99% of the posts that Evan is involved in end up locked.

Very true, I think it has something to do with what Jamo (a man of infinite wisdom) once said ... let me find it ... ah, here it is -

Yeah, the Jammeister is a man of infinite patience. A lot more than I would have. Gotta give him credit for not letting his emotions get the best of him in a knee-jerk reaction to all the childishness and self-aggranizing manifestos.

The essence (now I pretend I am in marketing) is: Get the youngsters in your car and haul them around a racetrack. One lap is enough.

Or a 1/4 mile. There is nothing more convincing than noise, smoke and wheel spin halfway to the 1/4 mile mark, with a bit of sideways when shifting. Use old tires. Wheel spin sells. Traction won't.
My group of car friends have done track days, drag strips, street racing, virtual track. We are not dumb car posers who can't change a tire; we are engineers, math wizards, scientists.

Mr. Shelby was a great inventor but he was also a shady businessman. Car fans seem to gloss over facts and lawsuits because, well, he was Carroll Shelby, the chicken farmer from Texas, created the Cobra, gt40, daytona, beat Enzo...so on and so on.

Reminds me of my childhood in NYC, little Italy. My family knew a guy named John Gotti, Sr. He kissed a lot of babies, donated money, a family guy. My dad said he hugged me once. I don't remember. My dad was polite to him but he never did any business or associated with him but John was a great guy in public.

Let me help since you cant seem to grasp this (but I suspect really do and continue your position out of sour grapes). Even the NYG gets it. You don't have a "Cobra" either. That's fact. Actually, what you have is a replica of mine. The company that built your "replica" in fact paid a licencing fee to Shelby American to build and sell your Replica and in fact also constructs glass body current production Cobras under contract with SAI for import. Apparently you also disagree with the company that built your car also.

Nope with you especially it's seems a clear case of envy.

Don't need to justify anything. It's all in that silly Registry.

Real 1 gets it. I know his tone/writing is rude and sometimes loathing, but he is right about Cobras.

I don't wear a fake Rolex but u can buy a quartz Rolex on Canal Street, NYC for $40 buxs or u can buy the best fake in Japan for $500 (automatic, crystal glass).

They are both fakes, just a question of how pretty u want your fake.

Cool, you ought to have them explain to you, their token wallflower, the difference between virtual track and the thrill of controlling the real deal through forward and lateral g's, only then will you "get it" my paper mache friend

LOL I don't envy you at all, I could have bought the same Replica of the original that you did I'm just smarter with my money.

You said it a silly Registry created by a group of people that include your kind of Replica's with Originals. LOL

I would respect it alot more if it only included the Original 60's Cobras, not fakeydoos like yours and mine.

In the end as I said to ME (And I could care less what anyone else wants to call it) it's a Cobra, not an original just a replica of a Cobra.

That authoritative reference that you so cling to also refers to the CSX4000 as a "true replica." See page 708. Shelby didn't want the word "replica" in his promotional materials, so they brainstormed the nomenclature "component", which became "continuation."

On Page 709, SAAC then references the CSX4000 as a "recreation", not an accurate reproduction.

And of course, the SAAC registry does list another replica called the Kirkham Cobra.

"Silly registry."

Thumbs up

Bingo. Your catching on!!! Woohoo!!!!

A true replica is defined in Websters. Correct. SAAC's defiinitions vary from dictionary for the stated reasons and rationale. The operative definitional section and categories are set forth beginning on page 30.

Wow a bunch of you guys getting bent out of shape over NYG? ROFL

I might have to hire him to pester you when I will be off this site for long periods.

I love air conditioning too...you can bank on that. But with all the components you may wish for in a Cobra build isn't it taking it far away from the essence of a Cobra?

Ok put in a console with cup holder...no big deal. Mad Max had one to hold his explosives in.

Air conditioning.... well I don't drive mine in 100+ California heat or NYC traffic. A nice ride up the coast LA to Malibu to Santa Barbara.... I mean do you want a coupe version of a Cobra?

Sure put in a sound system...no big deal.

You mention a few other options.... You are turning a Cobra build into an every day driver. And that is something that is rarely done these days. I mean it isn't really practical to be a daily driver in NYC.

Rodknock has the laugh of the day made me laugh..........

Radio? The music today sucks. You must listen to the symphony of your chimney-smelling sidepipes.

Cup holders? Real men and women just put their coffee cups between their legs and drive.

GPS/Navi? No iPhone huh? Anyway, real men and women don't need directions. They always know where they're going. It's a Zen thing.

P/S? Come on, you know your flabby arms need some exercise. And Cruise Control? You know your flabby calves and weak tendons need the same help as your flabby arms.

Heated seats? Your butt (gluts in trainer's talk) is your body's biggest muscle. Big muscles aren't wimps. They can take the chill.

Automatic transmission? Real men and women don't flick buttons on a steering wheel or just let the car shift for itself. Think of shifting the transmission manually as mental exercise to ward off the onset of dementia.

I don't think he really was a shady businessman at heart. Why do you think they always mention snake oil salesman at times when he is brought up. Hey AC Cars I have an engine for your AC. Hey Ford I have a car to put your engine in.
