This is great but out of popcorn...I'll be back!

I was wondering why Jamo hasn't closed this thread. I'm becoming concerned he has laughed himself to death. Someone should check on him.

Thanks.

Since it is Festivus maybe we should end the airing of grievances and move on the the feats of strength. Any body for more meatloaf and mashed potatoes, more wilted green beans?
Bob

And maybe that is that. Let's see what happens in 2015?

FatBoy 12-24-2014 02:27 AM

This has been fun. :)

Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year to you all.

Paul

Maybe he's waiting for the boss to get back and chime in. That would be about a perfect ending.

I post the following without further comment (hoping Ralph does not mind the added bandwidth for his server) ;)

I also post the following picture from Carlisle 2002 (since the attach file function is not working at the moment)

I think the airing of grievances has pretty much covered everything, anybody like to start the feats of strength?

I'm pretty sure that is our body. Dave and Mark Smith are some of the nicest people we have ever dealt with.

I squatted 300 pounds two night ago. Full depth, below parallel. New PR. Not bad for being one year post MI. Does that count?

I knocked over the old redwood in the back yard bare-handed, stacked 3 cords of firewood, then picked up the Yak and carried it on my shoulders for about a mile.!

Seriously though for David, that is impressive!

Merry Christmas to all!

Smith machine? How much do you weigh? For someone who has seen the inside of a gym on occasion, squatting 300lbs would put you in the top 1/4% (making up %'s like Patrick) of gym goers.

Then I'd like to know how much you clean, snatch, deadlift, bench press, bent over row and your 1.5 mile time. Once I have all this info, then I'll have a clearer picture of your feats of strength.

David Kirkham 12-24-2014 04:19 PM

No Smith Machine for me. Free weights only. Everything with a barbell.

Weigh 210

Squat 300 x 1 rep. I could have done more but was so happy to hit 300 I stripped off the belt and screamed.
Bench 250 x 5 reps
Deadlift 375 x 5 reps
I never learned to clean or snatch. (The explosive lifts are hard on the pushing 50 crowd.)

I PR'd 36 pullups 2 years ago, probably could do 15-20 now.

I don't run the 1.5 mile stuff. Pretty boring. I have entered the Squaw Peak 50 twice. Ran 30 and 36 miles in the mountains. Bowed out--that was tough. I ran the Snow Shoe Marathon in the mountains 3 times. The last time I only did 22 miles and bowed out with IT pain (it was only 3 months after my heart attack so I hadn't been training).

That's very impressive even for weighing in at 210 lbs. :)

The mile and half is a common fitness test of speed and strength. A distance that can be too long to sprint and not long enough to get a comfortable pace. A better fitness test would be how many burpees can a person do in 5 minutes.

Sounds like you're in the "elite" class of athletes. Congrats.

David Kirkham 12-24-2014 05:01 PM

I don't know about elite--maybe too stubborn to quit.

Yea, I really need to loose another 20 pounds. I'm sure my pull-ups would go drastically up. This summer I maxed 5 pull ups with a 55 pound plate. It seems like lately the 55 pound plate went to my middle.

David
:LOL: :LOL::LOL:

ps. My wife ran the last Snow Shoe Marathon with our twins. ZERO training. I just signed her up and didn't tell her. She can squat 150 and deadlift 220. That's why I behave.
:eek::eek::eek:

What about the shot of the car they are now showing on their web site as "their new Demo"?
