Their turnkey car with small block ford engine is $98,950.00.

Untitled Page

The roller version is $76,650.00.

Untitled Page

The ebay page says it is VIN #1. Does anyone with that kind of money want to be the first customer? Or would you prefer to go the safe route with a Kirkham instead?

I went to their live feed cameras. Here's a rip from a car currently being built. The hip curves and rear don't look right.

Wasn't there a guy who worked for this place putting out "if I build it would you buy it" feelers a while ago?

Looks like (including the perky butt) a Factory 5 Mk. III and they use the same Quick Jacks as FF5.

Not a CSX or accurate otherwise. The closeup of the front shows a bevel or raised collar around the turn signal. Among other things. And that roll bar...
I never understood. You go to all that trouble, might as well make it accurate.

But not worth the asking price for what it is vs what a comparable Kirkham cost.

Default Hmmm. Sure looks like one of ours to me???

Gents,

Sorry for the long delay in posting. It has been a very busy year for us here at Kirkham Motorsports.

After looking at this image on eBay I really think this is a picture of one of our machines. There are some very, very subtle shapes and things I think really gives it away. I have no idea who these people are. I have never heard of them.

As with any purchase...I think verification may be advised.

After looking further at the other listed photos on the same eBay sale I think it is evident the body in the main picture and the other pictured body in the listing are quite different from each other. I really think the main picture is of our machine.

From the ebay add:

Please note the picture is flipped. Goodyear lettering on tires is flipped. The gas cap is on the wrong side of the car for both England as well as the USA.

Now here is the image flipped back. Note how much easier it is to read Goodyear on the tires.

Some observations: Hood scoop, rear fender lips, front fender flares, oil cooler scoop, headlight support area, all look very different in the photos of the uncompleted car in the ebay ad photos vs. the above photos. Logo on the front hub cap looks very familiar. Exhaust system is also very unique to Kirkham Motorsports.

I do not work for Kirkham Motorsports

The company is Alloycars Inc. I'm familiar with them and their 550 Spyder. It is extremely accurate, even down to the rivet pattern on body panels. Original factory drawings were used to build the replica. It's very nice and very accurate!
As for the Cobra replica though, I don't know anything about it.

So search for them in the forum. There are two topics from a guy that worked for them and was going to take his work out on his own looking to size the market. I'd run away from this

Alloycars looking for opinions

"our molds came from some un-named kit body that was available (never assembled) at the time. "

Keep up.

Tom hasn't worked for KMS for quite some time now. If I recall correctly, he was working on an off-road vehicle project with some very trick suspension.

I don't know about running away from them, since it looks like they are an established company with their Porche 550 replica.

However there are a number of things to consider:
- Apparently they are selling their first Cobra replica and it is not finished yet, but they have pictures on their website of completed cars, which obviously is NOT their car. I think David is being polite saying that the picture of the polished car from the eBay ad is probably a Kirkham. That picture is clearly a finished Kirkham. The picture of the blue car on their website looks like a FFR to me. The black car looks like a CSX4000 in front of the Shelby Vegas building.

- Their car is not as "authentic" as a Kirkham:
-- Their frame is not authentic, like a Kirkham frame. They are using a FFR frame.
-- The hood scoop looks wrong.
-- FFR style trunk hinges (as seen in live picture grabbed by patrickt)
-- Rear wheel arches look odd in picture below (but that could just be the lighting?)

-- Headlights and oil cooler scoop look a little odd to me (maybe its just the focal length of the lens used to take the picture?)

Let's think about value for dollar compared to a Kirkham roller:
- This car has a solid rear axle standard versus Kirkham independent rear suspension.
- This car has a FFR frame with presumably compatible suspension components from a Mustang (I guess) versus Kirkham with authentic frame, billet suspension, Wilwood brakes, etc.
- What is the finish on this car (painted?, filed?, brushed?, polished?) for their price versus we know the prices for a Kirkham for filed, brushed or polished.

There is not enough detail from their website to really figure out yet what their car is worth compared to what we know gets delivered by Kirkham.
