Upside down is not a good look for a Cobra, here's hoping for the best results. Thanks Bill, for posting.

Apparently driving like an idiot. Glad he lived and no one else was involved.

jmarsey, Based on the 3 prior posts, I don’t see how you came to the conclusion the cobra in the picture was being operated in a less than responsible manner. If you have some additional knowledge to support that conclusion, you should have stated it. Irresponsible behavior on the part of the cobra operator may in fact have been the cause of the accident. However, until those facts come out, it is irresponsible to speculate. We can all speculate to our own demise, without facts it’s best to reserve our opinions. Baseless conclusion are irresponsible. Now with that said, I don’t profess to be perfect.

Sorry, it's just that I sometimes get tired of reading about this kitcar-cobra-idiot driver-crap. It happens more than you know and why I teach defensive driving:

You are simply a dick with response like that not knowing the outcome this event. If your wife or kid was a passenger of the upside down cobra.....would your keyboard allow you to put out such a message?

First off the guy is a driving instructor so, that tell you all you need to know. Now about the other guy, I noticed you did not comment, on what he said about you patrickt so, it makes me wounder? That said, I have to say I do agree with what you said, about the no couth part, about him.

Perhaps after he reflects on it a bit he might have something he'd like to say.

The best part of all this is that Mr. Mustang is the one who exhumed and revived a 12 year old Cobra crash story!

Actually, maybe not, as I did not post a link to as yet another accident in MtView California.
This was posted a day or two ago:
https://nextdoor.com/p/yXrhY5FXQ8ZZ?...m_campaign=gen

This is recent, not an older story as linked above. Owner was 81 years old and perished in the accident. Posted 4/12/2022 "El Camino in front of Bevmo in Sunnyvale about 4:30 this afternoon"

As a caveat, I do not belong to nextdoor, so cannot see the entire content.

I live about 5 miles from the accident site. Have heard nothing about the crash and can't find anything online about it in Mountain View or Sunnyvale (where that BevMo is located). What I can tell you is that there's no victim shaming in the ~48 Backdoor comments. Only concern and condolences.

This is a twelve year old event as someone has already observed

When you see these kinds of accidents it is not because the tree or fire plug jumped out and bit the car. It is because the driver was operating the vehicle in a fashion and at a level that exceeded his skills inventory and the car's capabilities. The crash is the proof.

This driver was in over his head and did not have the common sense to back off. It cost him his teeth, some bruises, contusions and his car. Who knows if any learning occurred, not withstanding the cost of tuition.

For those of us who have had our toys for any length of time, the commentary from the brilliant Owning a Cobra (that Hal Copple may well have written) should be taken to heart. As the document says, "These cars are brutal and unforgiving. They ... are like being in a relationship with an exotic dancer — you can never take anything for granted."

If you do they will get out of hand very quickly putting you and those around you at considerable risk. You are driving it and you are responsible for the safe operation of it. When you see a crash like this it is more often than not a sure bet the responsibility lies with the driver.

An observer at the scene of the accident who saw the accident occur, commented, "The man was driving recklessly, burning rubber etc. It is fortunate that all he hit was a tree."

Crashed Cobra's, absent equipment failure, are almost always a driver who got in over his head because he took the car for granted.

@eschaider Confirmed with a police friend that this accident happened 5 days ago. The horrific crash is still being discussed on nextdoor. Some are neighbors of the deceased.

I'm new to Bay Area Cobra scene and haven't met others yet. Your profile says you're in Gilroy. May want to check the BACC roster to see if he was an acquaintance.

Agree with need to drive within your limits. I love driving my Cobra but know it can kill me at any moment.
