Cal Metal asked for "Automotive" related stories but..hey..who cares. The thread has taken on a life of its own.
Bought a '58 Corvette in '66. Piece of junk--great learning tool, as I was about to find out in the ensuing two years of ownership.
Paid $1,200 for it. A guy who worked for my Dad had a mint, absolutely flawless '62 Corvette that he was selling for $2,000. Never even approached Dad on that one. It seemed like a million dollar difference back then. One can see why the Cobra was no barn burner seller at the Ford dealerships, either. At close to $6,000, that made the car ineligible for probably 95% of the working public. If they had that kind of $$$ to spend, it would have been on a Lincoln.
