Come on John, Don't hold back, tell us how you really feel:
Disclaimer, the following rant (sanitized) was mine, nobody else put me up to it, it's just how I was feeling yesterday afternoon:
Sorry, need to blow off some early morning steam (or is that an overabundance of caffiene).............
How long can one person fight about whether his car is a replica or not? This is just far too funny to watch these days as grown men bicker like women over whether their car is a REAL(tm) Cobra or not.............For gods sake people, it's just a ****ing car............Get over the fact that it's not a real Cobra, but a replica of what was built in the past (ie: the 60's). Sure I have fun and poke at the bees nest, but when push comes to shove, it's just not worth my time to argue with certain people. Why, because they are the biggest, most pompous, stuck up, snobby asses when they cannot expect the truth as told by everyone (including the manufacturer themselves).................So, for that one or two people that seem to hold themselves above everyone else to try and justify the money that they have spent on their replicas of the original, I say a hearty **** YOU AS***OLES!!!!!!GET A ****ING LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There, I feel much better now, the rest of you reading this can go **** off and have a nice holiday season at the same time.............
Sincerely,
Bill S.

I'm just so ****ing tired of the same **** being rehashed over and over and over. This rant is not pointed at any one person, but all of them in every ****ing forum related to the automobile...............My car is built by XXX so it must be more real than yours.....My car is better detailed than your car......My car is better looking than your car (ok, in this case 90% of the cars out there are indeed better looking than mine, I'll give that one up).......My car has more original parts than yours......What car should i buy, What car would you buy, What car would you **** your high school girlfriend (or boyfriend if you are so inclined) in, what shade of blue should I paint my car, what shade of blue should I not paint my car, what transmission, engine, rear end, shock, brake pad, tailight color, turn signal bulb, wiring harness tire, carpet, lugnut, gauge bezel, widget, and vibrator is correct for my car............****, I could go on forever on this one....................
PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!IT'S JUSTA ****ING CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GET OVER IT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!IF YOU MUST PUT DOWN SOMEONE ELSES RIDE TO MAKE YOURSELF FEEL BETTER, YOU NEED TO SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP................YOUR DEEP SEATED DESIRE TO BE AT THE TOP OF YOUR GAME HAS BACKFIRED, AND PEOPLE LOOK AT YOU AS THE JOKER OF THE CLASSROOM (The forums in this case)........SPEWING FORTH THE SAME OLD TIRED RETORIC OVER AND OVER AND OVER..............WHEN IS ENOUGH ENOUGH.......................AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGG
GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a happy and a healthy holiday season.

Evan:
Thanks for the reply about the Rangers. The reason I asked is that I've never met a Ranger that pontificated as much as you do. Most are pretty quiet guys.
Anyway I am glad that you feel so strongly about your Shelby. No envy here though.
I suspect most of the discussion is really about the word "REAL" (no news here.)
If a person were you ask you if your Shelby was REAL, and you honestly (this might be a foreign concept to an attorney) felt they did not mean a 65 or 66 Shelby Cobra then you could respond - "Why yes, it is."
However if you (at any time) thought they might mean an original 65-66 then - guess what - any answer but NO is a lie.
It's kind of like if a veteran who did not serve in Vietnam pretending that they were a Vietnam veteran.
You may fool people that don't know any difference but in the end you'r only fooling yourself and you'll never fool the real war vets.

So let me get this straight...... are you saying you are tired of all this $hit?
What is the correct trim washer for the dash screws anyways? I have -10s but want to be sure that the black painted brass -10 interior trim cup washer is the correct one.

Bill, you have truly captured me! I am a bad man trying to conform to a social expectation of good. Tough road I have a similar T-shirt that says "you can't kill a man born to hang'.
Like many of you I have seen the same crap thrown around by all sides of all the 'biggy' arguments. Any more, I just laugh about it.
Unless the evil side is in dominance at the moment and then I like to poke the fire
I don't think there is a single person here that I agree with on all subjects. It would be pretty f^%$ing boring if I did. Who wants a world where every one is the same. Pass, thank you. If I recall correctly Bill you and I have gone round a time or to on different points. Doesn't matter to me. Like you are suggesting, lets all have a beer, some good lively talk and just enjoy.

You're right. Maybe what I'm doing is poking him with a stick hoping that he will make a move.

That wouldn't be a reference to the 'your car is an embarrassment thread would it?
Like you signature line 'family first' in many ways for those who have lurked these pages long enough this posesses many attributes of a family. And like the old saying goes, "You can't pick your relatives"

This subject is like a train wreck. No one wants to see it, but they can't stop themselves from looking. We are on page 11 already, and likely not done yet. Even those that have seen the discussion time and time again, and are allegedly sick of it, can't stop themselves from posting. I personally find it pretty entertaining, but that's just me.
And in all fairness to Evan (not that I'm defending him because he certainly doesn't need my help), I have never heard him once state that a CSX is a "better" car than brand X. He has said, and I'm sure will continue to say until the day he dies, that the 4000 series are "real" Cobras; and he is right. Techinically, the CSX is the only car legally entitled to carry the name "Cobra". But so what, why should that matter to anyone? I'm sure no one gets in their FFR, SPF, ERA, Shell Valley or . . . and has any less fun because they can't legally call their car a "Cobra".
I'm certainly not bothered by the fact that my car does not carry a CSX label and that it can't be legally referred to as a "Cobra". And I doubt I'd enjoy it anymore if it did carry a CSX label (but I will admit that it would like the fact that it would be worth more if it had a CSX label.) Would the sound, the acceleration, the thumbs up, the fumes or the smile on your face be more intense with a CSX label? The Cobra experience is what we're all after, and I doubt your VIN will change that.
Who cares what car you bought, why you bought it or what you do with it? I just hope you enjoy it, because we are all pretty damn fortunate to have any of these cars.

Some of you guys are ridiculous. You say "mine is better" however you still want to ride on the coat tails of the original Shelby Cobras. If you always wanted to own a Shelby Cobra, here's your chance, the CSX4000's are affordable. So stop your *****ing.
If one day your ERA or SPF (or whatever) was worth $200K+ would it stop becoming a Cobra replica and start being an ERA, SPF ... ?????
Think about that for awhile.

There is only one guy that can bring the xxx group back over to CC to join in the feeding frenzie. Yup. Yours truly.
Chaplin's post above was excellent and pretty much sums up what I've been saying. He is amoung the few that get it.
Some can call me a snob, pompous etc..which are not fair adjectives to describe me. You would need to use words more like handsome, smart, talented, fair all around nice guy and great hockey player etc.. . All I'm doing is arguing the facts in the context of a discussion on this particular subject which has been participated in by many. It may sound repetitive because the facts don't change and there aren't that many or that difficult to grasp. (Well obviuously difficult for some, look it took Turk a while too LOL).Turk, just kidding, you know I luv ya.
Those that don't like the discussion are free to go away and don't return to this disucssion. Go discuss what you would like elsewhere.
Scott: I Disagree. Based on the facts as they exist today there are the originals and the continuation series. When people as me if my car is REAL I tell them yes but explain what it is based on the fact they probably are really asking if its an original. That doesn't mislead anyone.
You are right about most Rangers. They were/are pretty quiet guys. My dad was very quiet and only spoke when he really had something to say. He didn't like talking about the war either. Getting him to tell you anything was like pulling hens teeth. But I can be pretty persistant.
Ron: What fantasy are you referring too? You mean the one about Jamo in a g-string or Turk in his loin cloth?

Whoa...that's deep!
Lewismc:
"If one day your ERA or SPF (or whatever) was worth $200K+ would it stop becoming a Cobra replica and start being an ERA, SPF ... ?????"
Wow! That went right over my head (LOL) . You're obviously thinking about this on a much deeper level than I am. Nice.
When I get confused, I get hungry. It's time for lunch.
