Dag-nabit. I made a mistake. Must be a senior moment, but then, I'm not a senior.

I didn't see those three words earlier during the day. Now that my eyes are working again...My fault.

BTW, I very offended by the term "moron." The politically correct term is "developmentally challenged."

Is an aluminum CSX worth more than a Kirkham because of the name? I think so. Will it appreciate or depreciate faster than a Kirkham? I'll have to disagree.

Oh brother... if it didn't come originally from AC in the 60's, it's a replica of those that did.

That much better!! As far as any of our cars, they are only worth the enjoyment they provide to us. None are investment vehicles when compared to other "investments" such as real estate and stocks. My love, AAPL is up 85% since April, how has the original Shelby Cobras appreciated since then? How many were damaged accidentally. The best thing about any Cobra is this forum.

I bought MMR when it was "low" and rode it down from there! I usually buy high and sell low.

Yeh! I was invested heavily in the Market and watched them take my savings away from me.

Luckily before the great bank robbery I invested in Aluminum (Kirkham)

Watch yourselves..........those in charge might decide to clean the chips off the table again as it has been a year.

Look like this has turned into a "Chat" thread.

As an aside, dropping the "moron" word set the egg timer for thread closure...
..try to keep it civil and respect each others brand preference.

Let's wrap this one up.

I like this forum. I've gotten a lot of good info. But these threads of "Original Shelby", "Real Shelby", "Continuation Shelby", "Cobra Kit Car", etc. all end the same. It gets hot for a while, the same points are made over again, and then it dwindles.

Until another one comes up.

It's like a boxing match in the Twilight Zone.

The bell rings to signify the end of a round but the match will never end.

I don't regret my decision.

Also from what I see, CSX4385 didn't sell. Reserve not met. It would have been a good price in today's economy.

Cheers!
Tony

Well the Kirkham sold and CSX did not reach it's reserve. Perhaps we need a different car to discuss...

Stunning. Not to divert this thread, as meandering as it may be, but I don't see too many Kirkhams with the pusher fans. Any particular reason for this?

I alluded to this car several posts back. It was sold once either late last year or early this year and then the new owner put it back on the market last July. Last I had heard, the car has sold again, pending payment, to someone in New Zealand.

What do you get when you combine a Helicopter and a rhino? Hel-if-I-Know.

Isn't that the way they come directly from Kirkham. That's what I have I believe.

In the end Ron is right. Respect what others have. When you denigrate what others have it makes you a smaller person for it.

Well the asking price is $95K. If you have heard of the sales, do you know what it might have sold for in the past. Do you think the selling price was in or out of line?

Even if they come with a fan behind the radiator, you could certainly put pusher fans up front as decorations.

Well I suppose the type of Kirkham buyer who likes the billet suspension, light weight and technology would have no use for pusher fans decorations.

However, I suspect there are also Kirkham buyers who want to build out their car to be as close to an original as possible with original style suspension, brakes, etc. That type of buyer would probably like pusher fans.

When the transaction is complete, I should be able to find out.

EDIT: My memory fades but the previous sales price for that car was in the range of $90,000-$94,000, but it did come with a complete Weber setup that was a take-off. The prior owner opted to install a single 4-bbl.

There is a school of thought that the pusher fans are ornamental, at best...that they disrupt the airflow and do more harm than good to cooling.

Kirkhams have a beefy radiator and a large puller fan inboard.

Somewhere around the KMP2xx chassis upgrade, they just stopped installing the crossbar with the puller fan mounts in front of the radiator.

Plus, original S/C's only had one.
