I'm in, 99% sure the Cobra will not be ready for the road, so I will have the punish myself with AC and AC cooled seats and an iPod and Satellite Radio. This is going to be horrible maybe its not too late to cancelled.

At least Paul has a good reason for not driving his Cobra. I guess Bob does too: he's old, mean and crotchety. Now, Bruce...No excuse fits...

Yes, as Danr mentioned in a previous post, mention Raj and that he let us in for $55 and that should do it. Did for me, anyway. The new manager sounds like a nice guy, just doesn't know about us, yet.

JAFMO [x2] Heavy on the 'F' although, I would take the old raggedy one off his hands before it self destructs.

Robert is officially out for the Coronado this year...

I'm leaving tomorrow (Sat the 24th <-- My birthday, BTW ) on an alternative (and much longer ) road trip, and won't be back until the 28th or 29th...

After that many days sitting behind a steering wheel, I'm quite certain that I will need a weekend to recuperate.

What Karl said. A bunch of us have been on the road trip for 11days and get back on the 27th. We are all going.

Well, it appears that is not exactly true. A couple of the road trippers have caught a severe case of the screamin' woosies and decided to sit it out. Isn't that right Gary?

Yeah yeah yeah... Whatever. I'll be driving 14 hours a day, for 4 days, with only one day in the middle to break it up.

Plus, none of you are doing the Coronado in a car you've never driven before...

And my new car's not gonna have cupholders, and I don't know what I'm gonna do about that, either. What if I spill my drink?

and besides, I still have more than a week left to change my mind again...

Ya know- I was going to try to at least meet up with you guys at the Chevron on Saturday morning, and maybe show off my new wheels before you all roll out...

But since you are all being so mean to me, I think I will stay home and cry like a pooo seee, instead.

Honestly - it all comes down to the tires on this car- I expect that they are going to be old, and will need replacing before I think about taking any 500 mile weekend trips in the car.

I'll know more tomorrow morning when I check the date codes on them.

Oh, and BTW- Hello to everyone from St. Louis.

Robert I can't do the overnighter either but may try to get out to the Chevron to see folks off and see your new wheels if you can make it out. We can then go terrorize the sleepier denizens of Apache Junction as we head back into the valley....

Put me on the poo-see list too. I'm not comfortable enough with my car (McLinden's former ERA) to take a long trip, but I'm planning to make it to the Chevron station to shake some hands. My wife and I will follow along as far as the Arboretum, then fall away. (I've got an intermittent sputter under load, and haven't had time to get it figured out yet. The Cobra isn't running just right either...)

Guys, have a scouting report for you all. This past weekend we had 17 Vipers and 30 people make the run. There's a lot more gravel, dirt, pine needles, rocks etc on the road than when we ran in mid July. So heads up. We had two incidents. 1) Yours truly hit a 5 inch or so rock and caught the sidewall of right front tire...3-4 inch gash and tire toasted. Got a spare from one of the other cars and limped ahead. But another member came into a hairpin too hot, got into some pine needles and slammed into the mountain. Front end trashed, frame bent, likely a total loss. Fortunately for me I took one of his tires and was back in business Sunday morning for the ride down salt river canyon. Moral of the story is to be alert, when the sun's in your eyes you don't see the rocks until you're tire's destroyed. And there's enough debris around that you can get some serious push into some of the tight corners. So have fun but be safe.

BTW it'll make you all smile to know a string of about 12 Vipers blew past the pricks from the Porsche club in one the straight sections in the high meadows (not Hannigan's but earlier) doing about 155 to the Porsche's 110 or so. Our guys loved it! Porche jerks not so much...

Thanks for the report Pete. No mention of the road construction around Superior?
