Dan,
After Mike called me from Globe, later in the morning, it had occured to me that Linda was supposed to be on the run with you. I remember how she was giving the guys from Tucson the business at the picnic. God certainly does move in mysterious ways. I'm sorry you two argued, but for once an argument was a was good thing. Had she been there today, certainly she would have been hurt.
Next time we see you, please exchange cell phone numbers with Mike, or sent it to us in an email. I wanted to call you tonight, but didn't have your number. Guess maybe I need to work on a new and improved membership list of phone numbers. We used to be real good about that until the list started to get too long.
Oh, well enought rambling. I'm glad you and the other guys are all okay, and sorry about the cars.

Stuart, my prayers are with you. It's not easy Stuart, but do not give the cobra another thought until you are well.
That cell phone didn't happen to go down her throat when she plowed into you guys did it...............

Sounds like Stuart is going to be OK, which is the best news there can be!
As for the driver of the RAV4, anybody know if she cited?

Just read the whole thread and thought I don't know any of you, I want to wish Stuart all the best and a quick recovery. He will be in my prayers. Sounds as if a lot of you could have been hurt in this mess. Just glad that it didn't turn out worse with more people badly injured or worse.

Just thought I would "Post" after reading the 'Thread" and seeing the photos of the damaged vehicles.
Please pass on my best wishes to Stuart and those involved.
The impact of any 'Thread' with the words Cobra and crash sends a shiver down my spine, as we are a small community of enthusiasts who no doubt know those involved.
Thankfully you were all travelling together and able to quickly respond to move the Cobra back.
Again, my thoughts are with all who were involved.

Bob, After reading your post, I am moved. I am ALMOST sorry for giving you SH!% as often as I do. Hell, if I was nice to you, you'd think I didn't love you anymore.
Ginny, I think Mikie has my cell phone number.. If not, I'll send it in an email. I appreciate the thought....and yes, sometimes things happen for a reason. Linda and I talked about that last night on the phone. I guess I am a little confused from something. At first I told her how safe she would have been and then later argued about how she could have been hurt. Don't know why I keep changing my mind, but I'm grateful to whatever spirits that be that she wasn't sitting in the car.
When all is said and done, I can't help but keep coming back to where that ladies SUV would have been if our cars hadn't been where they were and it keeps coming up the same way. With lots more folks in ambulances and body bags. We are all very lucky, including the lady with the SUV. Part of me hopes she recovers quickly and part of me wants to throttle her. Talk about confused!.......... Anyway, with any luck, I'll have another car and still my the Route 66 run. If not, I'll pass along my reservations in Williams and Kingman and wish everyone that makes it a Happy Run...
Dan.. currently shopping for another CCX Car.

Just saw this post and am really sorry to hear about the accident. Just thank the LORD that no one else was injured in this mess! Our prayers are with Stuart and his family for a complete recovery. Like many have said you can replace the cars but not the people.
Speedy recovery Stuart!

rollbar
Duane,
The rollbar did not necessarily come through this time - don't think it was impacted at all. If you can see in the picture where the cables and rollbar are, Stuart's body was between the cables and the back deck of the car. Pinning him very tightly. The cables were pressed against his throat just under his jaw and he was not breathing. The rollbar is too far behind the body to do any good in this case. You can see how far we had to pull the cables forward to free him.The cables did shear off the hood scoop and windshield, amazingly stopping just in time , not crushing his neck, thank God.

Hi Perry,
From the way the picture looks to me, it appears as if the rollbar was not there, the car would have kept moving forward. Or, maybe it just seems that way from the angle of the car. I keep looking at the gap between the cable, the seat, and the left hoop of the rollbar and can see how he would have been pinned. ugh. I too saw the gouges at the top of the fenders in the first set of pictures and how it ripped the hood scoop off. He probably had no time to duck, at all. If that inner bar tube didn't stop the car from moving even a slight 1/2 inch further, someone above must have been with Stuart. Still very amazed at just how lucky he was. Being a near death survivor myself in a horrific race boat accident in 1981 as a kid, I wonder if some of us might actually have nine lives or something. Those other folks who were not sitting in their cars are just unbelieveably lucky as well. Oh my gosh. So amazing how it all turned out. Could have been quite different, and everyone can thank the lucky stars it turned out as well as it did and all survived.
In any case, everyone is alive with a lot of friends and support here on CC.
