Stiffy, all laid out on the garage floor awaiting engine loom and computer hopefully next week. I'm not cutting or crimping until I've got all the parts and I know where the computer is going, etc. And every time I go out there I add another circuit... footwell/boot lights, 12v outlet, etc.
Having said that, you won't get any pics until it looks like a $5000 wiring job.

I cannot wait to see the pic's. I would never attempt to wire a car, too many things can go wrong (especially with a convertable)..

Wiring pretty much finished so it was time hook it up to a battery. By leaving the fuses out of the Powercells you can check the integrity of the inputs. You can switch on each circuit via its' switch and a LED for that circuit will indicate on the Powercell if the message is getting through. Once the inputs are verified then you can insert the fuses and see if the outputs work. So far I've checked Lights, High beam, Brake lights, indicators, Ignition and Accessories. Next step is to put the dash in check the rest. It's going well so far buy I'm not naiive enough to believe there are no gremlins.

Bob,
I have kept the switched earths separate from the loads. I also added a direct line to the negative for the switched earths.
One interesting bug that confused me for a while was the headlight switch. Being an old Ford Laser unit it had enough resistance through its gummed up contacts to not trigger the mastercell. I could measure the switch with a meter and there was no problem but the very low current of the ISIS couldn't overcome the glug. Pulled the switch apart and washed the contacts and all was good.

Peter,
Sounds like you have made great progress. I wish I was that far. I have taken a different tact. The only thing I am using the Laser column for is the turn signals, high beam, high beam flash and horn. I have installed separate switches on the dash for lights and wipers. I also have the switched earths separate to the loads.
What did you do for the handbrake switch light earth. The one I have only earths through the chassis so difficult to run a separate switch earth.

I didn't use the ISIS system but like Bob used the Laser (II) set up. I have the wiring diagram of that.

I have made diagrams of the Laser connectors but I have altered them as earthing for ISIS. Let me know if you can't get any and I'll redraw them.

I too have a toggle switch for the wipers and I'm going to change the headlights to a toggle too - the same as you have done.
I have to admit that I have taken the wimps way out for circuits like the handbrake light. I have installed a fuse block that is energised through the ISIS ignition circuit. That gives me some options for discreet circuits like the handbrake. I also have another fuse block energised by ISIS through the accessory switch position for a radio and other future items.

Bob,
I don't know if your regs. require an audible warning in the dash for indicators. You may have to wire in a relay.
The system is great for tracking faults. When you connect you circuits and insert the fuse you get a status LED on the Powercell to confirm that that all is well in that circuit. If there's a problem the status won't light and the circuit won't be energised - a whole lot better than smoke!!

It's finished,
All the wiring is complete except for the boot light and door switches. All was going well until yesterday morning when it all turned pear shaped. I couldn't get any outputs from the Powercells. I started to go through the wiring and worked my way to the rear lights - it didn't make any sense. By chance I connected a test light in series with the battery and it it blew. When I checked the battery voltage it was 18 volts (yep I don't believe it either). I bought a new batttery and everything worked again. ISIS must have detected the over-voltage and closed the circuits. A bit of a tip for others using this system and you have an isolating switch. When you switch it on you must wait until the Mastercell has completed it's integrity check ie the display finishes scrolling before you turn on any circuits as those circuits will be blocked and they won't function until you turn the power off and back on.
The security circuits are working and the park lights flash a confimation when the remote is pressed.

so Peter, was the install as easy.....maybe that should be trouble free as you hoped for ?
My system should arrive tomorrow...........now only waiting for the chassis to turn up LOL

As with all things it's easy when you've finished. The wiring is definitely easier with ISIS. It has wonderful diagnostics and circuit protection. Be sure that you understand the manual and particularly the circuit assignments. If you have any misunderstandings or things aren't clear email Jay at ISIS - he is a great resource. PM me if you need help. I found the body wiring relatively straight forward but the dash is a real pain.

I plan to put the engine in next week. There are still some pipes etc. to get so I hope it will be running by xmas (earlier if I can get out of some domestic duties).

Thanks for that Pecal, I also bought the the dash wiring loom from them, so I'm Hoping that will help........when it comes to all things electrical I'm even more stupid than normal LOL

That should be a great XMAS present. Ah Domestic Duties, yes I am running up brownie points at present whilst my Cobra is at the painter. Should be off the hook for all of summer I reckon. Regarding the Dash - what bit are you finding challenging - I did mine one afternoon, although I dont have any switches on mine, they are all on the column.

The dash was a pain mainly because of the number of wires and ensuring that the polarity is correct - some dash lights are positive fed while others are ground. I guess I was frustrated because the bodywork wiring was a few circuits while the dash is many. Just needed to think a bit - not real good at that.
