Default 2011 Cobra Nationals

Thought I would start a thread and let the chatter begin.
From what I can make out the long weekend falls on 30/9 - 3/10.
So who is going?
What have you done (doing) to the car?
Which state will win this year?
Who is looking forward to it?

Gentlemen (and Ladies), Start your banter.

I will start by saying, yes, I hope to be there (currently building a beter engine for my tow Valiant).
I will wave the flag for the NT (any other NT guys planning on going - we can make a convoy)
I have not really done anything to make the car beter, but I do have much beter rubber than previous visits, I will also have slotted front rotors (Thanks Gav), and should have new shockies in place (I have a failed rear shockie), also the car is sitting much lower and I have the AM rear bump steer kit fitted.
And if time permits, I will have a cold air intake system made and fitted.

Well, I have finally paid for my car/roller...
But there is no way it will be finished by nationals...
In fact it might not even be in my garage by nationals

Default No Nationals for me!!!

It looks as though I will not be at the nationals this year.

I have been busy and not been able to get the work done on the car.

Thats a Bummer Phil.

Maybe the Mustang should pay a visit?
Or I wonder what lap times Bert or Ernie would do?

Hoping to make it Boxhead.

My Cobra is in getting repaired and might be apart. It also depends if I can get a new roll bar and harness sorted before then too.

We're hoping to have the usual large crew arriving from Queensland.
Spooky ( Matt Allsopp ) is looking after all the arrangements this year, and is doing an outstanding job.

I think we have about 20 cars, and 43 people confirmed for the trip at this stage.....I recon we'll end up with around 50.

And as far as which state will dominate.......What can I say ?

Cheers,
Warren

You know Ill be there Boxey as the token brush painted car. It has been suggested by some (the way I am making friends) I may have to invest in one of those little mirrors on a stick for checking underneath.....

Mods since last year - nothing like the little aussie battler of course with his new block, but been having a little tinker - Changes from last year: LSD (was an open), minor brake upgrade, front sway bar, fuel surge tank, will change the bob janes allrounders for something a little better like goodyear marathons......oh, and a lid for the traditional Goulburn wet long weekend. Hoping to crack 1:20 barrier.

For those of us who have never entered one of these events, what are the minimum requirements for safety gear? Minimum budget for those items?

It will depend on the lap times you do.
If quick, then your roll bar/hoop must be a set thickness and material.
Otherwise it is just a helmet and seat belts (as far as I remember)
Other items are good to have, but not a requirement.

Helmet you can get as cheap as $100 or so. But then you will also get the usual "how much is your head worth when buying a helmet"
Car must also pass scrutineering (so must be safe)

SO can be as cheap, or as expensive as you want.
I also bought a fire resistant suit, gloves and driving shoes.

Forgot to add, you will also need fire extinguisher and battery kill switch.

For those enthusiastic competitors out there, the entry forms and supplementary regulations are now up on the NSW CCC web site.

Cheers for that Kimbo, I have filled in my entry but can not find my times from 2008 Nationals (only other time I have been)
I guess it is no biggy but could not find them on Natsoft.

Looking forward to being there.
