Coincidentally, I just noticed a limited sale of the Kiwi3 ODB2 Bluetooth dongle thingy. If you have an odb2 port, this thing will hook up with your Harry LapTimer app and provide heaps more cool racing info like revs, gear, economy (hah!), etc that maps into your lap data. And this price is pretty good.

Well, Im ahead of last year. On the weekend did my pre-nats oil and filter change and valve lash and valve train check and all is sweet. A far better result than the same process last year.

Things are looking good. Long range weather is......>?

Mate, it is dry as a dead dingos donga down here. Would have to be the unluckiest bastards ever to get rain that weekend.

With entries closed last Friday - how are we looking for total event numbers and numbers in each class?

Back in the day qld would have maybe 25 + entries but that's slowly shrunk. This year we've got 8 doing the big trip but the enthusiasm is equal or more.

I'm sure whatever the count it's going to be awesome!!! Can't wait.

A few of the Committee members came over on the weekend and we got the entrants bags put together. Some pretty cool stuff in the bags this year.

I think there are about 50 cars entered from memory.

Cheers,

Ben

I heard 55 from Jules on Friday, including one Hot AC making a come back after a few years off. Not too late though if you want to get in.

I just did a rough count of people who have done the nats with me over the last 10 years or so. While I know I have missed a few you can see that many QLDers either have no car/not involved anymore or are OS/away.

Cam Parsons - OS
Scotty H - No car
Geoff T - No car
Garry H - No car
Ash B - Not competing
Ron F - Not competing
Wazza - Not competing
Greg Q - Not competing
Yve and Chris - Not competing
Peter Ransom - No car
Denis Stone - Not competing
Wayne Proctor - Not competing
Eric Roth - No car
Mike Verner - OS
Mick Warnock - OS
Gary Sims - OS car being rebuilt

Then when you look at our current list of attendess
Paul
Me
Pete
Tony
Jim
Mic
Phil/Ros
You can see there's no newbies replacing those that have dropped away. Whether thats a reflection of club health, a sign of the times or other reasons is speculative but certainly there does seem to be a lack of NEW people wanting to attend from up here.

We could argue weather/distance etc but every name on the current list for 2017 has had more than their fare share of Nats weather and yet we still go.

From a grass roots perspective perhaps its just a sign of the times with time money and effort all playing a large factor in the choices we make. From my last CnC experience there are alot of cobra owners out there not club affiliated and perhaps that why.

All I can say is THANKS AGAIN to the NSWCCC for putting on another great event. Nothing bad about 50+ cars. Cant wait.

My entry count puts us at 49 cars and with double entries we are at 58 entrants in total (last year was 62 off memory).
55 full entries, 3 Saturday entries
Many thanks to everyone that entered.

Clubs Represented
Melbourne – 5
VIC – 8
QLD – 9
NSW – 36
There were 21 people that entered last year but did not enter this year
There were around 17 people who entered this year that did not enter last year

Entries by class
Class 1 - 10
Class 2 - 4
Class 3 - 14
Class 4 - 6
Class 5 - 4
Class 6 - 5
Class 7 - 7
Class 8 - 8

Almost everything is now organised and ready to go – thanks to the many that help make this happen.
We are still looking for volunteers to help us out at the track, so if you know anyone that may be available to help out, please put them in contact with our secretary Tasman McManis (secretary@cobracarclubnsw.org.au).

As last year we have two raffles, one is dedicated to the Baume & Mercier Watch ($25 per ticket – limited to 300 tickets) and our general raffle ($1 per ticket) with some great prizes including a great Hare and Forbes toolbox worth around $700.

I’m really looking forward to another great Nationals this year - see you there.

Thanks,
Kim

Firstly I want to echo that thank-you to the NSWCCC.
I think that the Nationals has a very positive influence on the Australian Cobra community - well beyond being a three day track event assessing performance and presentation.

Also, as a bit of a placeholder for the analysis to come, it might be instructive to see ourselves as others see us - perhaps by reading this article.

Car is nearly ready

Hi Guys,
If you are entered for the 24th Cobra Nationals and were planning on getting a AASA license at the track,

this post is a quick reminder that YOU CANNOT GET A AASA LICENSE AT THE TRACK for the Cobra Nationals - the track no longer sells them on site.

You need to organise your AASA licence BEFORE you go to the track.

You can apply for them online at the below we address:

https://aasa.com.au/licences/club-ra...e-application/

If you already have a current AASA or CAMS L2S licence, please disregard this post and I'll see you at the Cobra Nationals.

The weather is looking good - can't wait.

Kim, got your hands full putting this across the various online mediums. Just want to say thank you again for putting on this event. It can be a thankless task but it doesnt go unappreciated!

DRIVE SAFE everyone on their journey to from and at.

SPECIAL NOTE: If you ALL go to Paul Gillis's Garage (12,13 or 14) on pit row his travelling companion WAZZA is putting on free beer to all that drop in and say hi! THANKS WAZZA!

Default Brian Wilson's passing

Hello All,

I received some sad news yeseterday that long time Victorian

Cobra member Brian Wilson passed away. Brian was a regular at the Nationals

for many years until a stroke limited his driving.

My thoughts to his family and friends.

Back home after another nationals. Great weather and lots of track time and some great driving and cars on display. Congrats to John White and Robyn Hudson on King and Queen. I got a few pics and video Ill put up when I get time.

A real shame not more attendees. It is such a terrific event that deserves to be as popular as it was a few years ago. That said, it was good to see a few old faces return after a bit of a lay off.
