I've not read or found any claims on run-away EPAS but have read several low speed failures where the system went manual no-assist during a turn and the driver lost control.

This article from Road & Track make sense to me as the manufactures are using a one-size fits all EPAS and things get out of hand in different applications.

I surely wouldn't scab one in from a donor car, but that's just me.
