wiring steering column???
Wiring the steering column and ignition switch is the last thing to do before test running and of course the paint shop. I have a tilt Ididit column with turn signals and emergency flasher switch in the column. The ignition switch as well as the wiper switches are on the dash. Can anyone help with wire numbers and where they go. Seems like a lot of extra wires?????
Thanks,charlie

Is a GM column? If so the wires just plug into the GM connector.

Thanks Art, after checking the column wires with harness #1002318, it made more sense. Does #166 go to the brake switch? How are the high beams wired? The Ididit column has a turn signal lever with a push button on the end of it. It also came with a relay for the dimmer control. Does any of this sound familiar. I'm totally confused. Supplied instructions are not clear to me. Any help would be appreciated.

Charlie,
We'd, I'd love to help but not many guys have used the same column as you. Without knowing the schematic for the IDIDIT column it's kind of hard to tell you what to match up with what.
If you can fax me your IDIDIT column directions, maybe we can help you get it hooked up to the CR's harness. 740-852-52810

The button on the turn signal lever is your high beam switch. I used a Painless 12 circuit wire set. It had a GM plug that hooked up to the wires coming out of the column with the GM connector on it. The wire colors were the same which made it easy to hook up.

OK,the main column connector did connect to the CR harness.
Art, did you use the dimmer relay from Ididit? If so, where did you connect the red, blue and the brown wires coming out of the relay?
Does anyone have pictures of the column mounting? What are you guys using?
DV: I think that there is a extra number for your fax. Could you list the correct one.
Thanks for the help guys!

The headlight dimmer box wires into the plug that would normally go to the GM dimmer. It has wires #141, 143, and 145. Check the dimmer box wire functions and run them into the CR wires using spade connectors. The CR wires are, #141 is power to the dimmer box, #143 is for the high beams, #145 is for the low beams.

Just be careful when you bolt in the steering column. I caught one of the wires between it and the mount I made to hold in column and cut the wire that went to turn signals and brake lights. I kept blowing fuses . Finally pulled down the column and found wire that was grounding out. Then the emergency flashers wouldn't work, so I got out the test light and immediately stabbed my finger ( I hate when that happens) and finally discovered I forgot to replace the fuse for emergency flashers. Duh!!! Thats why I always check the fuses first now!!
