Looks stunning already! I really look forward to seeing pics of the finished car.

Is this the stuff to use to attach the nose and trunk COBRA emblems to the body?

Tried to install the transmission cover but none of the rivet holes line up. What would cause this? They lined up and we’re held with cleckos before going to paint last year. Hate to oblong the holes and risk ruining the cover and/or the rivets not holding securely

I was able to install the transmission cover with a combination of muscle and Re drilling the holes.
On another note, I installed the door panels, fuel filler, fuel splash guard, license plate holder, and side emblems. But it’s 98 deg in the garage and just too hot to continue https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/59/5b/UaB3qIr8_t.jpeg https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/8a/b2/eQGH6uTi_t.jpeg https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/8d/f7/cIA5DOqg_t.jpeg |
Incredible job, Bill! You should be proud.
|
How are people running the wires to the license plate light!
|
Looks fantastic Bill. Kudo’s to you and your workmanship
|
Bill, I'm not sure how you'd do it now, but I installed the wires before I bonded the inner and outer skins. There really isn't much space between the skins, at least in a direct line. Had to follow the rib that runs around the outer edge. I hope someone else has an actual method that will work for you.
|
Maybe I’ll just tape the wires to the inside of the trunk lid
|
I was thinking that you might be able to use pex tubing in the 3/8" size. bend it to match the rib in the trunk, and maybe use silicone to bond it in place. Then the wire would be in a "conduit", and at least protected somewhat. If you had some of the body color paint you could even paint it to make it blend in better. That's my best idea, now I'm going to have to go take a nap to rest up!

Here is how it was done in the 60's.

THAT’S IT!
Thanks! |
That's exactly how I did mine.
Thanks Jeff, I couldn't take a picture  John O |
Bill
I emailed you on another detail.... |
|
Bill, if you don't want the wires visible, on my Hurricane the the inner skin of the truck had a hollow area between the inner skin and the outer surface of the trunk and and I drilled a hole in the hollow part of the inner skin near the drivers side trunk hinge and a hole at the back of the license plate light and fished a wire down to the license plate light and pulled the light wires through so the wires were hidden from view except up by the truck hinge and at the license plate light. Hope that makes sense.

I don’t have that option S_reynolds.

Made some good progress tonight after it cooled off. Installed the front nose side aluminum pieces and the oil cooler mounting plate, the oil cooler, and associated braided lines

Some good progress today with the cooler weather. Installed the hand-formed aluminum oil cooler scoop and the functional brake cooling ducts

Bill,
Looking great! You deserve a well needed rest. When you get a chance, I would be interested in seeing how the brake cooling ducts are mounted at the brakes. Take care. Jim |
