John,
This looks like a great bunch of cars and drivers. Glad to see you got some of the Gainsville group. If I bring the Cobra does that mean I can run group 1, then jump in to the 911 and run group 2? Man, I gotta get busy.
TC, I guess if you are bringing the TV back I will go ahead and bring the towels and silverware that somehow ended up in my luggage
Where is Spyderman, and what is he driving this year???

She left the lid up at every toilet she cleaned!! We are having the GUINNESS world record folks follow her this year for a new category. Do you mind if we celebrate the official record achievement at your house..after she eats of course?

John,
Sign me up with Tom Jones.
I'll see if Jim Pomroy and his wife can make it also.
We will be there for the events held on July 1st and 2nd.
I begged the wife and she agreed
She purchased the tickets for Queensrych for Sunday night. Cant get out of that (not that I'd want to....)
We will stay at a Savanna area hotel for the 4th of July Holiday.
I hope you know of a place to watch fireworks!
I'll be calling you this weekend if I dont see you at Sebring.
So, for now, sign Tom and I up for group 2.
I have a head count of 4 so far.
Thanks for doing this for us!
Ed

I want to go and am interested in just your event. After thrashing my t5 at Gainesville I have ordered a Tremec with a safety bellhousing. What is the cost to attend your event? I may come up to watch at the porsche thing but I am kind of strapped so paying for two events would get to rich for my blood.
Ruble Moore
I want to go to the Hilton Head thing and look at all the goodlooking wives in bikini's
Also can a street car attend the event? Like a 2001 BMW 325? If so I may see if my brother is interested in attending.

Clarification:
The POC event (June 28-29)is an event that we have been invited to attend that has a format that is acceptable for what we are trying to accomplish here. They do have a charge for this event, and I'm not sure what it is, few hundred dollars perhaps, maybe 250 ?, what ever it is it says on their website.
Our actual event, the 3rd annual "Willis Race", is on July 1-2.
I have made arrangements for my guests(you guys) to use the track at no charge for "the Willis" portion of the event on july 1-2, and I've made arrangements for lunch both days at the track. There is a Dinner on whatever night the most of us will be there, which will probably be either June 30 or or July 1, or both (who are we kidding !). The Dinner is on Hilton Head Island.
The general idea is:
Fourth of July week at the beach with 4 days of track driving, instead of just sitting there in the sand sweating.
you can do either the POC deal, Our deal, or both.
Sorry for the confusion...
I will contact Jim Frazier of the POC with a list of those wishing to attend his event and then update it periodically, however, it will be fine with me if you want to register with POC on your own.

Answering some more e-mails here:
Camping is allowed at the track.
Drinking alcohol is NOT allowed while cars are running.
Many people are spending the whole week at Hilton Head (The Breakers or Holiday Inn Oceanfront) There are cheap places (nice suites) nearer the track . www.roeblingroad.com
Spiderman, I am not paying for your gas or "per diem " expenses .

John, this sounds like a ton of fun. I travel to Savannah at least twice a month and may plan my June/July trip to coincide with your deal. My only problem will be trying to get my Unique down. I'll let you know after I check my schedule.
TC you can use my car as a tow vehicle to pull you four banger down and solve my problem. I need to do this event, I haven't turned a wheel at Roebling since the early 80's.

please count me in. I'm driving a Mustang though. Is that o.k.? It is track prepared and handled the short course at Sebring real good.

Tentative schedule (for me at least)
Friday June 27th :
Roebling's padddock open from 5:00 - 8:00pm for unloading trailers/cars etc.
Saturday June 28th:
Run with POC to an extent, but I will still be shuffeling(sp?) cars to the track for most of the day. Many of you will be using this as a travel day. Feel free to stop by.
Sunday June 29th:
Run with POC again. Some "Willis Racers" will be here at this point running also, and it is OK to just join POC's event on Sunday.
Monday June 30th:
Roebling Paddock available for trailer parking, etc.
This is going to be a bright , sunny day with a nice breeze. We are going to all hook up early afternoon on Hilton head Island and have a car show in my front yard, wearing shorts over our swimming suits and enjoying the cars while they still look good and run.
We will have a grill and smoker going as well as a "low country boil". There is a pool , a pond for TC,and a beautiful beach. This is the portion of the event where the different types of wax jobs can be discussed whilst sipping a cold one, and we can also have an informal driver's meeting to discuss who brought the best looking chick. It will be an early night for most as many will have a 45 minute drive back to the "track motel" of their choosing, or for those staying on Hilton Head, a 45 minute stumble home in the dark .
Tuesday July 1:
Meet at the track bright eyed and bushy tailed around 7:30. Course will go green at 8:30 after we go over the flagging system and safety concerns. There will be a "ducks in a row" lead/follow session during which the correct racing line will be observed. We will then run by group, and limited instruction will be available to those that request it. Rides will be given in some of the faster cars for those that wish to do so (at their own risk).
Several mechanics will be available to help with your car. If we did not see it at the beach day yesterday, we will look it over before you go out. rollbar, racing seat belts, etc. will be checked.Your cars level of preparation remains your responsibility, however, and you should do a thorough checkover before you bring it to the track. Brake pads, bearings, tires, fluid levels, etc.
Lunch is provided ( headcount appreciated) followed by an afternoon of the same running by group.
"Bench Racing and Budweiser" will begin when the last car is off the track. We only drink Bud and not till the last car is off the track for the day. There is a big grill at the track, and we are welcome to stay for a while and use it to cook whatever we want. We'll send somebody to Publix after putting in our orders.
Camping is allowed at the track and there are showers. Those staying on Hilton Head might stop off at Hudson's Seafood at the bridge to hilton Head on our way home, while those camping or staying near the track are on their own.
Wednesday July 2nd:
Repeat , however we may organize different groups (such as an all-Cobra session)and activities (such as drag racing up the front straight).Lunch is up to you, as some folks will have left and an accurate head count is tough. We will need to pack our stuff up as SCCA racers will begin showing up for their 4 day event . It may be possible to leave the trailers in an out of the way spot for those staying at the beach all week.
Thursday July 3rd:
Willis' Birthday and the reason I call this the Willis Race. I've been doing this track deal with my buddies for years , but 2 years ago Willis decided to steal the show and be born at 7:00 in the morning the day of the event .
I made it back to Atlanta in 2 hours and 37 minutes, beating Willis by 19 minutes.
Friday July 4th:
For those that have so far refused to leave, we will again be at the beach and you are welcome to join us.
That's about it. Remember, this is OUR event, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
I can hardly wait,
JW

John
Count me in with at least two heads(not counting the one in my BVD's)
This should make up for my 1.25 laps in Gainesville. I spent the weekend shoehorning a Tremec in place of that toy T5 tranny. It just barely fit as the Tremec is wider(and heaver)
I just need to get in about 500 break in miles before I get to thrash this tranny.

All I can say is, you guys better bring girls, and they'd better wear thongs, or you'll be getting strange looks all week after your above comments. Maybe even a knowing, tender acknowledgement from spyderman.

John-
I've looked forward to this event since last july--had a blast! I'm impressed with the number of Cobras that have signed up. I miss my FIA and plan to get around to doing another one but my focus has been in PCA club racing for the last year.
I'll be attending thePOC event and hope that lots of the Cobra folks will make it as well. For first timers at Roebling it would be good to have an instructor show them the ropes even if they have spent time at Gainesville--this is a much faster venue and a few pointers never hurt anyone. I spent last weekend there with PCA and had a blast. I do suggest that anyone coming down for a spin (no pun intended) think seriously in investing in a cool-shirt if they can afford one--
Thanks again for your generosity in allowing us to come as your guests--My son Erik (soloed at Roebling, CMP and Laguna will be sharing the driving chores with me if that is o.k.
See you in July!
Rick Brownyard
P.S. Is Jerry Rowley still attending these events? I haven't seen him on-line in awhile
