Wow!
Turk,
That is one gorgeous machine you've built! You're a lucky guy. I hope to get a car very much like that before I'm too old or it's too late.
Congratulations!

Turk-nice color and I especially like your side pipes. Did they charge extra for the pitting effect or is that cooked skin? I asked you on another thread whether you wanted a garage for St. Louis, as they are going fast. E-mail me or give me a call if you want me to save you one.

Turk,
The car looks great! You've done a fantastic job. Do you have plans on bringing it to DV Spring Fling II. What's up with the sidepipes. It looks like they have a rough coating on them.

Pipes
Let me guess. The pipes are still plastic wrapped?
Car looks beautiful. Please let us know how good it feels the first time you fire that beast up!

What a gorgeous car. The color combination is stunning. The engine colors compliment the body color amazingly well. Being a die hard "all cobras are red" guy, I'm surprised at myself for being so impressed with the color, but you've put it together very well...extremely clean looking. Another note...I'm sure that it's simply not finished yet, but without the sidepipes, I think it looks better than with the sidepipes. Ever think of running an undercar exhaust?

About the side pipes....
I had not listened to advice from ERA and had taken the plastic wrappings off when the car arrived some months ago. When I was told whatever grease spots, marks, dirt I put on the pipes during assembly will end up baking on there when I start the car up I decided to go ahead and Saran Wrap them for rough handling during the install.
Ijust have to remember to take them off before I run the car.
Jack ffr1846
I wish I could take credit for the color being an original. Wayne Turpin's brother's car gave me the inspiration. You like the color because there is plenty of "Red" around the car. Fender covers, tool boxes etc. I did not consider under car exhaust at all. I don't even know if that was available for a 427 car.
BLACKJACK
Thanks buddy. Maybe next time you can be the passenger, and I will drive you around.
Homewrecker
We call them "shrink wrapped".Assuming that I will even talk to you guys after the car is drivable!!
Cobra
I probably will lower the car from the stands and roll it ( or maybe even drive it out) today or tomorrow for some photos out in the sun. I would be glad to put up a few more pictures then.
Ross Weaver
I definetely am planning on making it to DVSF II.
It was so frustrating being there this year on foot, and knowing that I too had one like it back home. Just about the time I told the Mrs. that I was finished spending money, it is time to start looking for a trailer.
Pipes are "Blister" packed. Pun intended.
wtCobra
I'd bet you would think the color was "nice". You have no choice. It is a family affair. Thanks for the paint codes.
I think I'll pass on the garage this year. It doesn't look like I will have the ability to bring the car up this year. Trailer, fine tuning, suspension setting and experience are few of the excuses I have as to why not. I am planning being there myself.
cobra boy
Do like I did. I waited until I was" too old, and it was too late". Why not?
What is the life expentancy for a male in England today?
Thanks.

Simply awesome!
You better tape a note to the steering wheel..."Remove plastic from side-pipes before starting!" Hey, you never know. It's not a mistake you wanna make when your adrenaline is pumping and your mind is on everything except the plastic on the pipes.
VERY SWEET! It looks awesome. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on the progress. Your pictures are saving some of us non-owners from insanity. I'm really looking forward to seeing some pictures taken in the sunlight! Oh yea!

Beauuutiful!!!
Really looks great, Turk.
BTW, most, if not all of the 427 street cars were originally delivered with undercar exhaust. They really look clean this way, but I understand its a real hassle to do..
The Kirkham should be here in about two weeks....can't wait. Hope it turns out half as nice as yours!!!!

Bud Man
Having wrestled with the two side pipes better part of an afternoon I couldn't imagine having done that with pipes underneath the car.
Kind a like the looks of the side pipes. They look a lot more menacing this way.
Your Kirkham will turn out better I am sure. It is aluminum after all. Ultimate. Don't believe me....? Ask David. He'll tell you I am right.
exelguru
I passed the first test today. Indeed, removed the plastic wrapping and fired her up!. What a sweet sound.

Congratulations, Turk! No more mumbling "..varooom, varOOOM, vaROOOOMMM!!" for you, eh?
Take it easy, remember you've got one of 'dem dere BIG BLOCKS under dere hood, and they make lotsa horsepower. Try to keep yur foot outof it until you get used to it. Keep the shiny side up - (well, maybe that's not such a good saying here - 'cause the bottom-side of your car is probably just as shiney and pretty as the top side). Ohh! I got it! Keep the RUBBER side DOWN - that one still applies!
Have fun, and let's see some more pictures!
your friend,
cobrajeff

MAIDEN VOYAGE...
No more "..varooom, varOOOM, vaROOOOMMM!!" for me. You are right about that.
Today, went on my first ride!! WOW!!!!!
WOWIE!!!!
Then took a friend with me, as a witness.
1-No doors
2-No Hood
3-No license
4-No seat belts
5-No registration
6-No seats
7-No common sense
8-No responsiblty.
Complained all the time how the gearing was so tall, that wide ratio transmission may not have been the right choice after all.
After going around the block a few times, realized the shift linkage is backwards. What I thought was "1st." turned out to be "3rd." I guess it is very "tall" indeed.
Then put it in 1st. and then 2nd. (where normally 3rd and 4th. would be)???
&*^%^&*!!
I can't wait.
TURK
WOWIE!!

New Look
Turk,
I think you should leave it like that. Then it will be a one of a kind. You won't have to worry about overheating in the cockpit, that is until you stop for a light. Then the heat from the sidepipes will get you. All the more reason to just keep driving. No need to stop for those pesky lights anyway. Another plus to leaving it that way is you can show off the great job you did on the motor. LOOKS GREAT, MORE PICTURES PLEASE.

It looks great! I guess this means I'll be getting my seats ahead of you as you obviously have no need for them. The sleeping bag fits you perfectly. Steve
