i'm also think to go slabside route
early competition look with forward brace rollbar
cutback doors maybe historically correct, but i still prefer normal doors

Ozgur_Tan 11-21-2008 02:54 AM

as you can see on the updated pictures of my buck
i make sections as -18 mm offset from outside surface
than cover with 18 mm plywood strips
to archive good surface quality

ps:
i would like to double check outside diameter of front headlight bezel, can you assist me ?

Looks like you are doing a similar project like I do (if I understood right).

I made first wooden/foam (polyurethane) buck and finally pull a mold out of that (not completly ready yet).

I spent a lot of time trying to make that plug surface perfect and that is a nightmare if you have wood/foam plug like I have.

My main problem was that no matter how nice surface you make that wood sections will be visble after few days. Wood and foam just act differently in different temperature/moisture etc.

If I started now all over again I would add few layer of glass mat after rough finish of foam. That could made that plug more solid so that there is allways same material under filler.

If you like to know more about my project send me a mail.

There is also some pictures about my plug/mold in my callery.

Hi

There was some discussion about this head lamp here

http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...dy+buck&page=2

Is it same lamp used for all models?

There was some hella part no mentiod in that thread and I find some pdf from hella web page and I use those measures.

This "-18 mm offset from outside surface
than cover with 18 mm plywood strips" is an exelent Idea.

Looks great ;-)

Yes very nice, great idea. You mean a real coupe roadster :)

Buzz 01-06-2009 05:14 PM

Oz, will the top with the integrated windscreen still be removable? If so its an intriguing idea - Pop the top and put on a comp screen for a totally different look. The only concern - if indeed the roof structure will be removable - will be how to stiffen the roof to windshield attachment point to prevent twisting/bending and resultant alignment issues when it is handled.

Beautiful work - the lines and shape of the buck look absolutely exquisite!

Hi There,
Thank you for all replies
I saw a hawk 289 replica with aluminum trunk, doors and hood when i was in le mans classic races last july (like old hi-tech cobra's).
So, what do you think about this idea ?

Hi Ozgur,
This will be the one you are referring to, I think the "T" car is better, but then I'm biassed!

G'day Buzz
Yes, all hardtop w/ windscreen assembly will be removable
There is no attachment between Roof and A pillars since all of them one big structure. Material of body and hardtop will be autoclave cured carbon fiber
for the open look, I'm playing with wraparound racing screen idea
Regards
Ozgur

Hey WingCo,
T car is very nice, but funny think is I've to choose smaller one since she's left hand drive !
As you may notice body shape that I'm trying to finish is eclectic mix of cobra versions USRRC body but normal doors (like csx3002) instead of cut-back and slabside front & rear fender lips

Ozgur

Looking good!
BTW, CSX3002 has conventional doors, not cut-back like the FIA cars have.
Larry

Ozgur_Tan 01-12-2009 10:16 PM

thank you
i know, i give reference to csx3002, because of front radiator opening like 260 & 289 but rest of body like usrrc/fia with normal doors and without fia luggage humps on the trunk lit
