Dr. Bob Gingold is one of the most famous and esteemed original Cobra owners and he lives in FL. He's owned his 1960's Cobra for over 40 years. He has ZERO to do with the owner of alloycars.com.

If true, and Evan did visit Dr. Bob, then I'm assuming it was to look through his extensive NOS parts inventory.

I'm guessing he buys it from himself, at yet an even higher price! Or pay someone to patsy. I do hope this thought does not offend those who still believe in the "Real1".

I'm curios what makes you think that you are entitled to know when it sell or for how much?

no, its easy to differ, the form of the rear wheel arches, the form of the front flares or the form of the rollbars,
the alu(-kirkham) cars have a specific other shape in theses details

Dimis 03-14-2016 09:56 PM

I'll say this, there is every chance Evan will get his number in due course.
I mean with the current rate of inflation and all.... He may even still be around to gloat about it!:p

Thanks for the entertainment. :)

You’ve been a wonderful audience. I’ll be here all week. Try the veal. And don’t forget to tip your servers.

I'm going to have to agree with peterpjb and say that is NOT a Kirkham alloy body. That painted FIA body appears to be fiberglass. Although the ad does say aluminum body.

Well you know if inflation does catch up with Evan's price, Evan can continue to raise his price. Imagine if his car remains on the market for years. I suspect that certain posters like RodKnock and JoesGarage will continue commenting frequently enough that this thread will be hundreds or thousands pages long. That way even though Evan was banned, he probably has the last laugh knowing that some people can't stop talking about him and his car on Club Cobra.

Well you guys need to make your posts clearer so that us stupid people can understand them better.

Shelby's own brochure of prototypes for sale describes it as aluminum. Maybe the photo is a fiberglass car but they appear to be selling an aluminum one. I guess someone needs to buy it so we can be sure.

Maybe the visit to Dr Bob was Evan's wake up/real talk/hard look in the mirror... He does not have an original, authentic but a beautiful recreation of a 1960s Cobra? For him to quit and sell his Cobra, some trauma must have happened recently?
Does he need money? Divorce?
Where is Mister Mustang? He usually blasts sellers for ridicilous asking price but no comment to Evans price? Hmmmm.

thanks, Al

MisterMustang's post is cryptic. Cobra morse code? reads like he has an Aussie Sucker on the hook.

Joe's Garage 03-15-2016 08:52 AM

NYG, tell me if I have this right ...
Per an earlier post we have "24 pages of sour grapes" with Evan's CSX being sold for $249K, and where, a sucker from AUS may buy it.

Does that about sum it up

That's Bill! You have to read the tea leaves with him. ;)

"You guys?" Talk to Bernica. He wrote it. :p

Hmmm. Bob in FL? If you read your SAAC Annual Magazine each year, you would have known Mr. Know-It-All.

The fact that it takes about a year to get through each magazine, because of its size, speaks to the hard work that the SAAC Board and its volunteers does year round with the all the other stuff going on.

Evan will live in the heads of these trolls until they die. It's worse than the earworm. At least with those the song changes every once in a while. Here it will be Evan, then Evan, then Evan again. Forever. Pretty clever, eh?

This place has turned in to the car wreck with traffic rubberneckers. The cop tells you to keep moving since there is nothing to see but you can't resist to slow down to see what gore might still be waiting to cleaned up.

You know the state of people's minds when trolls are trolling trolls.

I wish this the internet, this place and this topic had been around in the 70's when I had to write some term papers for pschology and sociology classes.

sour grapes is not the price. sour grapes are all the Cobra guys Evan has dumped on.

he's moved on. left the Cobra world... for now.

If Evan receives some small (or large) measure of satisfaction from this thread, then I'm glad that I could provide it to him. And it sounds like he could use it too.

For the record, this thread would have died an earlier death, but not for folks who post about auctions of 289 FIA's and slabsides, for example, when Evan's is a 427SC car and who also post that I and others have sour grapes about something. I don't. I just enjoy everyone's company here, except for the NYC ding-dong with ADHD.

If Evan gets his $250,000, then hallelujah. Honestly, at this point, the car probably needs a new caretaker anyway. And ultimately, only he and his wife will know what the heck he/they got anyway.

Ya know, you could leave if you don't like it here. No one is making you stay and read our "sour grapes." ;)

Isn't about time for the early bird dinner buffet at Caesars?

Bernica 03-15-2016 09:47 AM

No "sour grapes" here (with me anyways). Evan never did anything to insult or offend me and I have no ax to grind.
As I have said before, I think he has (or had) one of the best modern representations of the original on the planet and I only started this thread because I found the ad and was surprised that he was letting it go.
