Honestly, if it's possible to have one's opinion swayed...

well I actually associated the 429, with the smogged LTD wagon, or the 460 with the old family grand marquis (aka boat)

which brings me to boats, and all the 460 powered jet boats

but to really be convinced, there had to be a supercar.

No we're not talking about the 7 litre GT-40 (7 litre - isn't that an FE ?- aka racing heritage - nevermind we are talking about the great 460)

No, and we're not talking about the 5.4 litre Ford GT

We are talking about The ultimate 460 powered Super Car

So I am going to check my bank account, now. I just need shipping from Aus to North America. Ideas?

It's a 460, with a lot of bang for the buck, maybe I could JUMP it?

What was the original question before the posturing began?

That's the problem. There were two questions posed by the OP and while they're close, the questions are different.

The original question was " What is the best Ford engine per dollar?" Given that the question is highly subjective due to one's personal opinion, I am going to say MY solid lifter 427 FE is the best Ford engine per dollar because of the Woody I get each morning when I walk past it in the garage.

That's given me a great idea.

I have to park my Cobra inside the house, that way, I can walk past it every morning and "get excited."

I've got this beautiful work of art in the garage. A Roush 427 with black block and intake manifold and everything else, including the heads, polished.

I am getting excited right now and it is 40 miles away at the moment. Feels like it did in high school.

No other engine even gets my blood going, except that cammer I saw last month.

$30/hp but worth every penny to me.

So a PEFRECT home would be a master bedroom with a king-sized bed and a shop bay with lift, all in the same room.

$30/HP sounds too cheap to me, unless you making at least 800 HP, which is entirely possible. The Bill Coon heads are $5K and the Pond block is another $5K. Plus all those little expensive parts. I think you would be closer $40/HP.

This definitely sounds like my engine building methodology.

Yes, there's a small probability for a Cammer in my future. Of course, that $/HP ratio thingee would be out the window.

No, no. No hazardous materials in the bedroom.

I would park it in the living room or have a "dead animal room" where I would park it. The room would also have those home theater type chairs with a popcorn machine so my friends and relatives and I could sit down comfortably, eat popcorn and just watch my car.

Because Dennis has installed a 385 in a customer's car doesn't mean he would take one racing.

But it sounds like you know Dennis.... You know the same people I know, so I might know who you are... If I do, you are sad.

But you have not, and you will not identify yourself or your car number. You are on here to screw with people, just like a group of other SPF owners including McD00 have. You not being serious, just obnoxious.

Good answer.

Value is based on how each person perceives it.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

This thread reminds me of Clubcobra old. Just a refreshing moment again.

Easy answer... Ford's Model T Engine.
Inline 2.9lt, 4-cyl.

Cost a few bucks back in the day for 20odd horses & is now worth thousands for you...
hahahahaha

Seriously - perhaps the YB series Cosworth 2lt engines that they put in Ford RS - capable of about 550 horses
