Mmmm I am glad you did not give me that homework. Hell the last time I had to read this heavy duty paper was Unit 6 MBA in 1999...

Hehehe Bernie, That was very light reading written in everyday language by Warren Mosler, better known to petrol heads as the manufacturer of these:

As is known by most economists, that the purpose of taxes, of whatever type (we are discussing carbon here) is to control the spending of the working class.

I don't know if there is a pending crisis with carbon emissions but I have read heaps from both sides of the argument and are non the wiser.

However, if there is a genuine crisis that needs mountains of money thrown at it then there are other ways for that to happen besides introducing another form of tax.

Unfortunately, some of those alternatives will hurt the balance sheets of those with a vested interest, hence the tax.
