Ahh,
from the computer up to the crown moulding-down to the the door way, up the door, across the door, down the door, acoss to the wall around the built in I beam and back-down to th printer! UNLESS I an get the wireless to work! :( DV |
I'll hook you up with the right cables :D
Watch out for a delivery early next week!!! |
DV I am doing my final assembly of the body and just realized that I am missing the trunk hinge , is there anything that could advise me on that? also what do you use for the door release cable. just reading your pages has help me so much Thanks again Dave

Kawika,
Use "Ten-Spd." bycycle shifter cables a left and a right. They are made of stainless steel cable and should last a couple of generations. The right goes left and vice-versa. Now for the hinge: Do you actually have the hinge; long tube with welded/curved arms on the end. DV |
no I got the hood ,both door hinges and all the latches but not the trunk hinge
|
OK,
give me sometime and I'll see what I can do. That sucks. DV PS Do you have access to good machine shop? |
no I am in the middle of south west Iowa ,in a town that has a amish blacksmith, and he is not very good at that. But my cobra really sticks out here

Your printer cable is on its way. As soon as I get shipping/tracking info, I'll pass it along. The longest (standard) USB cable you can use is 5 meters or 16'. Anything longer than that and you lose to much signal strength. I found a place that has a passive amplified USB cable that is 36' in length. This cable requires NO external power source for the amplification. So you'll have to shave a foot off the distance between your computer and printer, but this will get you printing again. Cheers!!! |
Cpteddie, with all that work, I'll get it working!
Kawika, this is the closest oem type hinge I could come uyp with. It will work and is a lot more classy than the OEM one. Sorry I couldn't come up with an original one, but if I had it made and shipped it wold cost more than the one I am showin.-Good Luck. DV http://www.watsons-streetworks.com/hood_deck.html |

Just got tracking info on the USB cable. Should get to you via UPS by the 16th. Enjoy! |
thanks so much DV you came through again,
|
Kawika,
If you have any trouble installing the new hinge let me know. I've used both company's and they are both make quality parts. Cpteddie, thanks again! Sent up pm- we've got another glitch with the factory welding.... DV |
Hey DV.. How's things going? Ready for a visit sometime next week?
I start physical therapy next week, Monday... Wednesday... Friday So it would have to be Tuesday or Thursday. Let me know what you think. Cheers!!! |
Sure!
But with the latest set back....I hope you don't get disappointed by the apparent progress, although a lot has been done. I have had to unhook the starting mechanism to put the body back on. With the "other" problem now fixed, the hood needs one more modification. Nothing major but it is involved. definately set the program back by a good week. I am getting a little disappointed to be this close and keep being put backwards. At this point all seems normal, the old two forward one and a half backwards! has truly stepped in- just means it is getting closer! Once things get started full forward again, it WILL be quick. Found out all the problems with the new computer is possibly a cracked mother board, CMOS, Registry and BIOS are constantly going nuts. Keeping it till next weekend then sending it back to DELL.......and I thought I bought a rock solid high updated machine! Oh-well See you soon. DV |

I'll plan on coming over on the 28th. Looks like I'll be going back to work on the 10th of November, so that will put me back to weekend only visits ( hopefully one of those will be to bring the car home :o ) Now you see how I've been feeling last week when you told me about the last welding screw up by Don's guy. It truly does feel like the old... 1 step forward, 2 steps back... Sorry to hear about your super computer  Can you use that one I brought over as a back up to keep you online while Dell fixes yours? Here we are getting SO close on the car being done and you might end up going into a communication black hole  Keep me posted! Cheers! |
Well, Are you guys going to tell us what the "welding screw-up by Don's guy" was so we can check out our own cars to be sure they are safe?

I'm sure DV could go into much more detail than I can, but here's what DV PMed me the other day about the screw up... " installed the body for the last time yesterday- for the umpteenth time. Fit the hood on and the new air filter. Something just wasn't coming out right. with everything together you could now see the motor was sitting in on a list, by over 26 degrees to the left! finally found the right frame mount was welded in wrong! " |
Thanks Ed, At least other people building these can check it out on their own and maybe get this fixed. As always, this thread is a wealth of information. Thanks to you and DV for starting it.
Terry 26 degrees?????? |

Then again... He has all kinds of crazy laser measuring tools and he could have used one of those. |
True,
A Digital LAZER level. Same one I check the angle of the driveshaft/pinion. I checked the degrees of the floor, then the degrees on the nose of the body (This is where it was most visible, when the body was on and the newly modified hood was on. At first I thought I blew the alignement of the hood scoop. The scoop came out fine, the only thing left was the motor. Took the hood off and laid the level on the brand new large oval aircleaner. Made sure it was down all the way and tight- WallllAAA.......The motor listed to starboard 26's! I think I said a bad word at that point! Out came the OEM frame mount, built a new one and now we are back to plus/minus a half degree. New powder coat being applied as we speak. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/data/500/0034.JPG DV |
