I was actually thinking of cutting a corresponding "U" at the mouth of the air cleaner, OR leave it like it is. It will stay centered when enlarged.
DV |
Not following you.
You mean cutting a U on the deck of the hood to match the radius of the cleaner? If you can. Mark out what your talking about on the hood and post a picture. Sounds interesting, if its what I think it is. |
eddie,
Much neater than my scribbeling but it should get the poinit across-just an out line of the lower section of rthe cleaner- strictly an option on your part. Good luck today! DV http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/data/500/0014.JPG |
That's what I thought you were talking about :) sweet, lets do it!!!!
Off to the hospital, later.... |
Me and my back are back!!!%/:JEKYLHYDE
Well I have 14 staples holding my lower back closed and it feels like I'm learning to walk again, but everything went OK. Pain level is through the roof right now, but I've been told every day will make a big difference. OK DV. I'm off work for at least the next 4 weeks, so you better keep me entertained  Cheers! |
Captain Eddies' Back
Glad to hear you made it through with flying colors:D. I'm still in England but the suspense was killing me so I borrowed a computer from one of my God Children. I hope that you are back on your feet as soon as possible. It looks like DV is taking care of his end.

Thanks a lot Jim!!!
I'm sure DV is. Just trying to coax some new pictures out of him :3DSMILE: |
Cpteddie,
Welcome back already even! Sounds like it went ok, I've got one piece of foreign steel in my back, does that count? I Just back on the internet....damm dial up! However, your roll bar material came in yesterday! Anything newsworthy, you know I will post it sooner or later! Glad to here your surgery went well! DV |
I have the air filter cut out on my hood. I can't say I love it because it looks like an afterthought to make something fit. I had Curt Scott from cobra country comment..."wow I have never seen that before". If and when I get a chance I would rework my hood to eliminate that cut out where a small part of my oval air filter is exposed through the hood. My son says " Dad no one is gonna say your car is a pos because of that one detail" which I believe. But if you have other options I would consider them. Just my 2 cents. Glad to hear your surgery went well. I will post a pic asap.

My breather plate has the carb hole moved to position the breather back about 1-2". I used a threaded rod and spacer between the manifold and breather base to keep the breather from turning.

Did the House of Kolor stuff show up yet? |
Guilty!
I'm forced to take a few days away from the cobra :( , I have purchased an out door wood stove to heat the house the shop, my neighbors house, both water heaters, both basements and his shop. (The trade off is he has to supply the wood and cut it for the stove :MECOOL: ) . The problem is I have had to dig a trench 2' deep, 4"s wide, 250' long. insulate 500' of Kitex 1" tubing, then encapsulate the entire lenght of tubing in 4" solid drain tile, then fill the tile with insulating foam. Than bury it. 2/3's done on my side! Tried it late last winter without insulation on the pipes. Had to turn the water heaters down- darn they got hot, the house got to 86 on my side my neighbor 100' closer to the stove than I am, house went to just under 90's, both unheated basements got to house temp and we hadn't even burned a half cord of wood yet! Man I love this thing. We now have the heat situation under control,(getting the furnace to actually cool down between cycles) and my infloor heat in the shop is simply amazing! I'm predicting a normal ussage of 3,000 gallons of propane a winter to less than 200 gallons a year. My neighbors propane should drop to way less than 100 gallons a year. So, until I get my side done completely, (by tomorrow I hope) I have had to play hooky on the cars! If you're in an area that allow these furnaces, do yourself a big favor and look into one. We finally went with a Hawkins Stove. Back to my ditch then on with the car in a very warm shop! DV |

Please post a pic of your hood. I'd like to see how it looks. Maybe that would change my decision to have DV make the modification. Thanks! |
capteddie,
Check out John's photo gallery, page 3. Terry |
I took a look Terry, but its hard to see the the modification. I was hoping he had a close up pic of the front of the scoop taken from the top.
Thanks again |
Cpteddie,
Your filter is not going to stick out as far.......... (As Johns) DV |
Ok... Go ahead and add the curve.
Are you done playing with your backhoe? Seeing that your online, your phone line survived this time  Did you get the stuff from House of Kolor? |
Boy you guys are moving fast. I posted some pics of the hood for you. Check them out in my gallery.
John |
Thanks for the new pics John.
I actually like the look. As DV said, mine is not sticking out as far as yours. So I think the curve DV will put in will be less prominent than yours. But like I said, I like the look. Thanks again John!!!! |
HOK, Nope not yet. No backhoe -all back! Just finished the insulation and pulling the last 50' of pipe covering it up! Piece of cake from here out! Probably start hacking the DOM material Weds?????????
