OG,
Also I noticed your front cross member is a Mustang II/Pinto. Very common in older builds. Not sure if you were aware.

Still not sure about the body, it sure looks close to an EM.

On another note , parts buying for your new car will be a test. These cars are a situation where you better know what the H you have. Cause the parts guy will be little to no help!

Oh yes, I have heard of the SB100. I also heard something about being in line in the DMV really early on the 1st of the Year in order to get it. But i didn't know i have to get it if the car was registered before in another state. Next Moday morning i will head to the DMV and find out more about it.
I also this notice that it was from a mustang II, specially because the wheels are 4 x 4.5. what would be involved to make it a 5 x 4.5? I mean besides going the easy route and just get a 4 to 5 adapter. The rims i was looking at only comes in a 5 lug.
I bought the car in Indiana, but i have no history where it was originally built at. The only thing they said at the dealer was that it was built in 2000, but that the guy who trade it in had it for only 4 years or so.
I know getting parts will be fun =P so the first thing i'm planning on doing is looking at all the numbers that i can find in the car. I know that little by little i will be replacing parts of it and writting a log of it for future reference.

Good luck with the titling and registration process.

You may wish to visit the CA DMV website. Look at the Vehicle Registration, Specially Constructed Vehicle sections before visiting your local DMV office.

Granada hubs will do I think. Or if you want to spend $$$$$ go with a complete after market front end. Heidts and Wilwood make some nice stuff. I think I see coil overs already added on your ride.

My best advice is to use the search feature here. This board and members have loads (years) of info. Plus don't pull the trigger to quick in buying single parts. You may end up replacing something you replaced once already. Just absorb as much as you can before making any moves.

Thanks, i'll keep on reading as much as i can, but any ideas from you guys would be great to make it look better. I will first make a list of all the things it already has and what i would like to upgrade. I was looking at the FF 17" x 9 and 17" x 10.5 Vintage Halibrand Replica wheels. I know the first two things i would do is the interior and re-routing the hose for the gas tank since i don't feel like opening the trunk everytime i want to put some gas :P Next would be wheels (but not before making the change from 4 to 5). Just one step at a time. It helps that I work at a machine shop, so any adapters i might need, i might be able to make.

Guess it's good your going with 17" wheels. Many like the traditional 15" though. But if you have driven the car you may have noticed braking needing a heavy foot. That is if the brakes are manual. Check this out.

Looks like it has a fuel cell instead of a standard gas tank. You might look into building / buying a fuel tank before re-routing the fuel filler hose.

Just a thought.

Going from 4 x 4.5 to 5 x 4.5 should be easy. Measure the diameter of the front rotors. If they are 11", you will only need rotors. If they are smaller, you'll need a kit like this (I just picked this randomly off ebag)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MUSTA...item1e5edb0335

Does it have a 8" in the rear or a 9"? I would think an 8" if it has 4 lugs. You would probably be better off finding a 9" and having it shortened if need be. Adapters would work for the time being, but you would have to mess with the wheel offset. You can find a 9" from a Lincoln pretty cheap with rear disks if you look. I bought one for $100 complete.

Speedway Motors.......get a Speedway Motors catalogue.......
changing to a 5on 4.5 is as easy as changing the rotors to the 5 lug rotor
the calipers are the same for the M2 and the Granada....the rear end looks
like an 8.8...if it is you can use Ranger rear axles

It is definitely NOT an 8.8. It is either an 8" or a 9". He cannot just change axles. If he has the 9" rotors that many of the M2's had, he cannot just change rotors. He will need a kit to install the larger 11" rotors from the Granada.

Ralphy, thanks for the link. definitively something i would like to install. I still need to change from 4 to 5 lug to make it work though, right?
Terry, thanks for the heads up. I actually went to a shop to see if they can built me a gas tank instead of re-routing. I just need to bring the car on Saturday so they can take a better look.
Thank you guys for all the info for changing from 4-5 lugs. I will measure it Friday as soon as i get the car and take pictures so you guys can have a better idea, but by what you guys are being mentioning, it seems like a easy thing.
I'm going to the DMV on Monday morning to try to register the car since it is one of the requirments from the Loan, hopefully it is something i can fix the same day, if not i will make a line at the DMV on Jan 1st. I need to go to the DMV anyways to try to deal with one of my other cars registration that for some reason got suspended, so i can kill two birds with one visit.

Ogravty - Try to go to a DMV that has a reputation for understanding and helping Cobra owners negotiate the SB100 process. Don't take the first NO as an answer...ask for a supervisor. Word is that the still may have sequence numbers available.

OG,
The Wilwood deal allows for 4.5 x 5, 4.75 x 5 and pin drive wheels.

I went to the clairemont DMV yesterday to resolve an issue with another of my cars and after that i decided to ask about registering the cobra and about the SB-100. The lady who was helping me asked me what a SB-100 was and then she asked two other workers there and they didn't know either. I tried explaining them what it was, but all they said was to bring the car around so that the people in the back can look at it because they didn't know about any paperwork on SB-100.
It looks like it will be a bit challenging getting things done there. =) I can't wait for my car to get here on Friday =)

I added a few more pictures in the gallery and profile now that i got the car here. I didn't see any other markings anywhere though. There is definitively a lot of work to be done, but it is going to be fun. Any ideas would be appreciated to make this car a lot better looking, so any details that might think of or places where to buy those items would be great. New door panels is a must, i found a upholstery place over the weekend who might be able to help. I also need to add sliding seats. I'm not that tall so i might need some mods, but it helps getting in the car =) I installed a viper 5901 over the weekend, first of many additions to this project and as soon as i sell my 88 Fiero i will use all the money towards this project. I hope the pictures help find the manufacturer of the kit. Thank you so much for all the help.

ogravty...The El Cajon DMV will be your best bet, they know the routine really well and are very helpful.
