Blas, appreciated and noted. The battery will be securely restrained with the two straps, and there is approx. 2"-3" gap between the battery and the footrest/battery cover.
Also, I have stuck a rubber sheet to the rear side of the footrest/battery cover :) Cheers! Glen |

Great solution to a challenging problem and your fabrication skills are top notch, especially when one considers your creative use of the tools & equipment that you have at hand. Have you given any provision for ventilation of the battery? Some batteries come with a vent / drain tube for use in enclosed spaces. I would suspect some level of ventilation would be a good idea. - Tim |

Yes, tasks that are challenging because of a lack of equipment and space in the home garage often require "creative use of tools and equipment" ....but then a little thought can turn out results that, while not professional, are not unprofessional ;) Now, to ventilation. Here's another picture of the footwell with the panel sitting in position... Attachment 37641 There is around 4'' to 5'' gap above the top of the footrest panel that can't be seen from the passenger seat, so not a problem for ventilation. Further venting/drainage.... as it's not a sealed area, that's not a problem in itself. I do however already have a drain hole (shielded on the underside of the chassis to prevent moisture ingress) in each footwell, main purpose being for stormwater drainage. Keep the comments coming. I often miss a detail and have to redesign or rework a feature. Cheers! Glen |

Hi Glen, flawless work, as we have come to expect from you ;) Well done sir! As I was looking at the pictures, it occurs to me the battery, it's on the driver's side %/. Just teasing. Speaking of upside down, and backwards, I believe I've found my errors, with taking pictures, it seems to be (Me) being left-handed, and owning a (Right-Handed Phone): confused: Latest pictures from Tiger Mike's home, and a quick tour of Port Townsend, Terry's newest Daytona (The old Coupe just sits, so now looking for a new home) So nice to see yours coming along my friend, Cheers Tom.

Your car is coming along really well, finish line is well within site. I believe that if you take your time, be meticulous, thorough, logical and have great attention to detail in your build, which you clearly have done, you will have very few if any shake down issues. I'm actually just waiting for there to be a clear day weather-wise (nearly 2" of rain in the last 24 hours, as you would well know %/) and also finding somebody to transport the car, and it will then go to my mechanic's workshop for the engine and gearbox to go in. Unfortunately no recommendations, but I have major trust issues when it comes to my Cobra, I hired a trailer and did it myself. I have all the tie down
straps if you want to borrow them. |
