Wayne,

We aren't taking care of the planet for sure. And the ice is melting as is easily seen in Glacier National Park. Also look at Iceland and the Polar ice caps as more huge pieces crumble into the ocean. But I think it is more of a regular cycle than anything that mankind has caused. And as we pave over more and more of the land for the sake of money, there is no doubt it is going to help cause some bad effects. But I believe there will be food and water wars before we have to worry abut the land wars because of Global Warming. The population is increasing all the time and the amount of land for producing food is shrinking as they use it for malls and such. And also the water situation around here is going to be very bad next Summer if we don't get more than the occasional day or so of light rain this Winter.

Ron

There are already water disputes in the south west US as more and more people place ever-increasing demands on a limited amount of fresh water. A knowledgeable person told me that it is going to get very ugly in northen Africa when the Nile is dammed and Egypt no longer has all the water it has enjoyed for centuries.

Sorry, didn't mean to hi-jack the thread.

Wayne,

You never hijacked the thread. We have been fighting over water here for the last three years. Sacramento wants all of it for their Delta and there just isn't enough left in Shasta Lake to furnish all the farmers, Sacramento, and generate electricity. And this is one thing they can't throw money at and make better as the snow pack is nothing at this time and when there is a little we have some warm days and it melts. If this continues, and they are saying we will have a cold, dry Winter, then next Summer is going to be bad. They still have some of the canyons that the lake normally has full closed off because the little rivers that flow through them are so low that boats will hit rocks and tree stumps if allowed to go into them. We have already been told to start cutting back on our home water usage. And this is the main part of our rainy season.
