Big Thanks to Rodneym for the deal on the wheels and tires, we should be able to get this one down on the ground and ready for the body skins now.
Small steps but hopefully in the right direction!

Un freeking believable... just un freeking believable. I feel so inadequate.

Al, thanks for the kind words.

David Kirkham sent me this challenge, after some cutting and a lot of beating with a variety of different size hammers I was able to persuade the stainless steel to resemble what it once was.
Welded all back together and test fit into the frame.

fuel tank

Fixing the fuel tank enabled me to move on with finishing up the tank straps and tank strap hooks.
The tank fit was spot on, love it when that happens.
A big thanks to a couple of friends for giving me inspiration and motivation to get some work done in this cold weather,
you know who you are!

Here I have made the mods to the rear diff cover I like to do, also built the half shafts.
Hope to have more updates soon with fitting the body.

This is also my first time seeing the post. You have incredible talent. Very impressive indeed. Can't wait to see the finished product. It will be something you should be very proud of.

Hi Bill
Thanks for the great complements, of course you are welcome to buy another.
Your HiTech is still one of my favorite cars out there we built, in fact we like your red so much, red is at the top of the color list for this car.
Two of my favorite pictures of your car!

Nice to see those two pics, Craig. I hated to give up the great look of those Goodyears...but it rides sooo much better on radials on the roads up here.

I won't be going to the Poconos. Longish drive for one thing...and the other thing is that my ex lives too near the track :D

That is a great looking shade of Red

mudhenk27 08-01-2015 04:18 PM

It is a beautiful color. When it came up for sale it caught my eye for many reasons, but being the same color as my Superformance was icing on the cake. My tiny avatar is a pic of my cars surrounding another red one that used to belong to some guy named Smith who painted 198 on the side. ;)

Before you paint another one, though, think about this, Craig. I was at a local car show last week and overheard a spectator tell his girlfriend, "This is one of those kit cars...a real one would be blue with white stripes."

Good to know.

I have not painted one of our cars Blue as of yet, I have a couple of other builds in the shop, maybe I can talk one of the owners into that original blue color**)
Here is a pic of one of the other cars we are building at this time, Blue might work:rolleyes:

Body time

Back to the build,
we are starting to lay out the body on the frame.
We are starting with the rear section first, a little trimming here and there along with some hammer swings we should be in good shape.
Covering all the frame work with the shinny parts makes it look like it has some potential. :3DSMILE:

picah 11-08-2015 09:21 PM

Absolutely unbelievable !! Amazing work !!
Can you please post a pic of the underside of the trunk/hood? Interested in the details of the attachment of the shiny parts to the perimeter tubing.
You have amazing skills
Best
Ron
