Nice! Glad to see the vent louvers painted. Just don't see that on many yet it's how they were.

Thanks Jim, (your engine startup video was great!):)

Today I got the oil cooler and shroud installed.
Then the radiator was installed.

I had special help today from my young 11 year old son, he helped install the rivets around the front edge of the hood,:D

More aluminum work today, got the trunk just about all finished, just need to make the diff access panel up.

Also installed the twin pusher fan motors,:D

Looking fantastic Craig. Your son did a nice job with those rivets, must be genetic...

ACademic 08-04-2017 12:44 PM

Looking fantastic! So what's the secret to fastening rivets on painted surfaces without boogering up the finish or cracking it? I highly doubt we are looking at the faux rivets that you see on other replicas.

The rivets are real:LOL:
it's a nervous job for sure:eek:
I use a aluminum shank rivet and a tool I made on the back side of the hood panel so the rivet won't pull the hood skin down.
My help (son) holds the tool on the back side of hood while I pop the rivets.
I also pull up on the rivet gun as I do this so it puts minimum pressure on the paint surface.;)
Seems to work well for me thus far:cool:

Just about have the Dash ready to go and started in on the fuel tank.
This car is getting one of our large comp tanks.

ACademic 08-21-2017 02:02 PM

All this stunning authenticity and no fuel pressure gauge? With the comp tank option no need for that middle one, true? Plus they're rarely accurate except on two readings...full and empty.

The customer and I had a discussion regarding the fuel level gauge over a pressure gauge. He has no use for the pressure gauge and wants the level gauge, so the level gauge it is.
I really don't have a problem with it, not that big of a deal and easy to swap out if he changes his mind down the road.
I have great customers and I try to build them the car they envision and want.
Now if my customer wants a 6 inch lift with big mud tires etc, then we would have a little problem.
Come to think about it, no we wouldn't have a problem because I would not be building it.

Started in on the wiring, mounting the items needed to make the whole thing work as it should.;)
Not the most exciting part of the build but an important part.:)
