I'm still a bit confused as to what constitutes a "win".

Is a win "first to cross the finish line" with the tree programmed to give the cobra a 0.2 second head start?

....or, are we still going on just ET's?

Makes a difference to me in how I vote!

Cheers from Dugly

I'm glad it's not just me. I've read through the entire original thread and am still not sure what the negotiations last night really mean.

It's best ET (after adjusting for the .2 sec hedge). They will run heads-up so it will feel like a race, but the win is based on ET.

EDIT: Sorry, Tommy already answered.

In simple terms - Dan's cobra will run in the 10s with proper tuning and good (not pro) driving skills. The Ferrari will run consistant low 11s as demonstrated. And I like Dan's .2 hedge, and no fear win style. Unfortunately, I do not think we will be filming the event for an episode as no confirm to offset a few expenses for the film crew hosts copter etc..seems odd since these folks are high rollers..should be good for u tube

I've never been an expert, ever, on anything, but I would think without traction, I don't see 10's or low 11's.

Also, I'm still very confused about the open car vs. roll cage issue. Will he or won't he be kicked off the track, if Dan's Cobra breaks 12's? I've heard responses that said if the track is rented and waivers are signed, then he can run what he brung. I've also heard that the track rules still apply no matter what, who or when.

If Dan runs only one run and he's kicked off the track, then I would think he forfeits the 2nd and 3rd runs. Assuming, track rules apply, in any situation.

Dan would be wise to get a roll cage, proper harness, drive shaft loop, arm restraints, and any other safety equipment the track requires. He'll definitely go all out to win, but I don't think he has a death wish. Besides, the additional weight would probably help him with traction.

Hi all. A win is defined by ET. We do 3 parallel runs. I have to win each parallel set. So he could launch 3 seconds after me, or vice versa, but we're generally going to try and go at the same time for the excitement factor. He will be in the Goodyear track slicks that look like billboards but are different; no drag slicks or drag radials. -Tom

So are you going to use any kind of starter? Flag drop, bra toss, tree, etc?

Is the track going to kick Dan out after the first run for not having rollcage?

Tommy, it doesn't look like you used the Ferrari launch control for your runs, is this correct?

Fred - that's correct. I didn't use LC, so that I could use full auto.

Reasoning?? I would think the launch control would have given you the quickest time. Ahhhh.... maybe a courtroom two-step?

With the 130+ trap speed and a 1.9+ 60 foot you're definately 10 second capable. Get that 60 foot down to a 1.6 or a 1.7 and you'll see a 10.9x... or better.

The ferrari was fast and consistent, and as said driver doesn't make much differences with that car, especially since there running the clock and reaction time doesn't count. The track that day was in bad shape, 40 degrees and hadn't had a major competition in some time and the spray rig was down. So we didn't see the best of Cobra's. Under better track conditions the one 12 sec Cobra could have broken into 11 easilly and he wasn't even able to really get any good speed shifting off. His car was also down about 150 or so hp/Q compared to proposed Kirkham. So two things the Cobra will have to do, get off the line as cleanly as possible, which will take tons of practices to not smoke the tires and bring as many ponies as he can on the top end. I had first hand knowledge of the smokin'm them off the line that day.

That Ferrari did not give up the whole way and the traction control appeared to be very well engineered !!!! Horespower you can't get to the track is just smack talk!!!!

The fairier bet would be to have the Ferrari run without traction/launch control. Then we got a race !!!!!

Tommy 10's with a harder launch. Thanks for the numbers. I have seen lots of drag cars run upper 9's at that mph. Mark

Thumbs up

Tommy thanks for renting the track and letting some of us low income folks try our talent. I had to leave to go to work so only got one pass in my blown truck and as you saw smoked the tires all the way through second gear

Sounded and looked good doing it though

Remember if you ever need a gargage to store your second Ferrari in, I volunteer. I wash it and wax it and even take it out do what we call and Italian Tune Up, ie run the **** out of it to blown out the carbon
