There's been some debate recently about why Kirkhams are listed in the Shelby registry. Can you offer your thoughts on that?

They found an aluminum body but I don't think it had a suspension or frame. They showed a picture of what sure looked like a fiberglass car finished. My guess is Shelby swapped the alloy body for the other car. Nothing was said about power train installation or the cost to do it.

Eeer, now I'm curoius... How can you tell the difference between an alloy body and painted fibreglass one, just by looking at it on TV?
Particularly, a freshly painted body without dints.

The body looked like it was aluminum, shouldn't there be an update in the registry if it's a continuation? darn starting to sound like Real 1 mentioning continuation and registry.

This is a CSX4000-series continuation Cobra chassis, built for the new Shelby American Inc. by Kirkham Motorsports. It is NOT an original CSX3000-series Cobra from the 1960s. An original 427 Cobra from the 1960s is worth upwards of $500K for an ordinary street car, to $1.5 million for a competition car, not $60K.

This episode of Pawn Stars had the most misleading set of edits/cuts I've ever seen in a TV program. Don't be fooled.

OK, so i finally got time to watch this on the DVR. -- That episode is soooooo wronggggg I cant even believe it.

Pawn Stars Cobra = SHAM.

Observations:

1. When the car is first brought in by the tow truck driver, you can see down the nose of the beast and see the *X* member first cross brace and the rack and pinion, with yellow zinc bolts holding the suspension pieces on and the patina of construction is NEW.

--So it is a Shelby style frame , and the aluminum body is of reasonable construction, albeit new.

2. When they visit the "Nevada-Classic-Cars" guy the first time to authenticate the car,-- they are actually standing in the cobra production area in shelby LV. (where is Gary Patterson >? _ ) and why wouldn't they mention they are *at* Shelby >?

3. When you compare the old vs new car shots, they are *two* different cars. The trunk lid is different, the tops of the doors were drilled for a soft top in the first car , where they are not in the car they delivered.

Bottom Line; -- I think they swapped out a 4000/6000 series fiberglass roller for the chassis they brought in, and *that* is what they take delivery of in the episode.

This would explain the BS about the seats and when they show him the car before they put the motor in , which by that time it is clearly at another shop -- it also has a non-drilled carpeted tunnel in it. --which explains the vinyl BS story as base cobra roller seats from HST are vinyl.

Anyway -- it takes months to finish a car properly , -even if you had someone working on it full time.

I think we were the viewers on a bait and switch.

* I hope the Pawn Shop guys know they were hoodwinked , they can get awful upset on that sort of thing. *

PS: UPDATE so the "CSX number" shown on that frame was headed the opposite way from my CSX.

IE: in order to read my CSX number on the shock "upright" you would need to be sitting in the engine bay as opposed to leaning over the fender.

Those guys are clearly knuckle heads when it comes to these cars. Agreed that there should have been clarification that this was an authentic " continuation " cobra so as not to confuse it with an original.

That schmuck got taken like Grant took Richmond. The initial car is clearly an aluminum continuation cobra. It's a body and chassis. Back in 2010 I think rolling chassis were $125k. Clearly market on that body and chassis would reasonably be at least $100k to $110k. All that separated it from a roller was wiring, plumbing, gauges, carpeting,wheels and tires, springs, fuel pumps and some trim items. He gave it away for $30k. What a dope.

I think the fix was in. The expert puts a value at $60 k. Pawn guys negotiates with rube who sells for $30 k. Pawn guys flip to Shelby dealer for finished glass car at near even swap.

Poor dumb bastard.

Since "only" 99% of the show is scripted and fake,it's no big deal, they all knew what was going on...........

Had some friends go to Vegas 2 years ago and before they left, they went by the pawn shop to see Chumlee...they happened to be filming that day and as they approached the shop, they were asked by the production people there where they were from, they told them they were from Louisiana and on vacation there......
There were asked if they wanted to be on a show, they said "sure,why not",so they were escorted to the back of one of the production vans parked out front and they opened the back door to find "something interesting" for them to go in with and sell..(the van was loaded with all kinds of items used for the show)....at that point, they declined the offer and left in disgust!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was 2 years ago, whadda ya think they are doing now?????

Not even close, the "fix" was in from the beginning,remember, this IS reality TV, and NOTHING is real!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't even ask about "Cajun Pawn", (thankfully they didn't renew it),that shop is 25 minutes from me and I've know "Big Daddy" for 30+ years,know 1/2 the people you saw in their episodes and only 99.629984511% of it was FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
