AL427SBF,

Don't you think this could have gone a lot easier for Alloycars if they had just said from the beginning that some of the pictures that they were using were "representative" of what their final product might look like? Instead they tried to switch pictures and pretend that did not happen?

With the insults and repeatedly using the "R" word, I completely agree with Jamo's decision here.

Wow, you guys have to calm down a little bit. It's only me, the little MrNobody with his aluminum conversion project, do you remember?

I just want to share my experience with Alloycars and I don't understand why you guys fighting one another over my decisions. You have to live with the facts I told you and if you don't believe a customer then go and look for yourself.

Looking at those previous posts:
I couldn't keep it in me so I did ask Ingo about this forum and his answer was very understandable:
Ingo went on vacation shortly before christmas and his general manager took the liberation to publish photos he wasn't allowed too. After he came back looking at his emails with links posting to this forum, but it was too late.
I don't want to go too far in details as it is not my business but after meeting with Ingo I got a completely different perception about him, totally opposite from what I read on this forum. Very informative, he does certainly need to work on his english and you still can feel an old time German in him.
What I have seen so far is good enough for me to go on with my project and that's what's important.

I've been following this thread, as well as others related to Alloycars, because I'd certainly like to see expanded options for aluminum bodied cars - especially if that means the entry price is lowered.

I'd certainly like to see Alloycars, or anyone else for that matter, succeed in bringing such bodies and/or cars to market, even though I don't currently have a Factory Five car or any immediate plans to acquire one.

At the same time, I certainly appreciate the value in protecting consumers, and it would appear others do as well - though perhaps at times their strong feelings and passion for such protection has been a bit overwhelming.

MrNobody: I wish you nothing but success in your deal with Alloycars to upgrade your FFR Mk2 / Mk II to an aluminum body - and certainly look forward to seeing photos and commentary not only about the finished result, but also the process.

Best wishes to all.

MrNobody

It would be great if you took pictures of your car presently from a low angle of the front, side and rear. Then post the same pictures with the al body so we dan see the comparison. Hoping it all works out for you. If it does, this will be great news for FFR owners

Default A Charade And A Charlatan

Enough, already.
I am compelled to submit that this entire sequence of 'contributions' to our valued source of information on Club Cobra by purported employees of Alloycars is likely a charade in an attempt to gain free advertising and to lure customers who have more money than common sense. Moreover, their 'customer' presents himself like a charlatan who could be one of the employees of Alloycars.
I ask that our fearless moderator Jamo stop further diminishment of the quality of this websiet as a resource for us Cobra fanatics by banning any further 'contributions' to this site by Alloycars or any of its claimed 'customers'.

Oh, really? Just because we have not seen an invisible pink unicorn yet, does not mean that they aren't real. MrNobody could be real too. He could be somebody and soon enough we can see live webcam pictures of his car at the Alloy Cars shop, so why bother to take a picture now. He is a lot braver than I am to be Alloy Car's first Cobra body customer.

I am not sure how he figured out that I am envious of Jamo's car though.

How about some patience? Sit back and wait a couple of months and see what happens? I'd love an alloy body, and would consider one if shipping to New Zealand wasn't so expensive. Wouldn't be the first guy tho.

This has been...mmmm.....interesting?

Looking at the pictures posted of their car at the show, I think I'd be concerned about the quality of the aluminium bodywork. The edges around the hood opening look a very long way from being straight and even and the surfaces look a bit wibbly wobbly.

I'm comparing it to my Kirkham, which may be a unfair, but the prices aren't that far apart for complete rollers.

A Kirkham roller is $80,000. An Alloycars roller is $70,000.

But, Alloycars makes pin drive and independent rear optional. And rear brakes aren't even mentioned, unless I'm missing something. Apples-to-apples, Alloycars' roller pricing makes absolutely no sense to me for a newcomer to the alloy body market. IMO, anyone buying an alloy roller would buy a Kirkham hands down.

Having said that, if FFR owners find the $16K attractive for an aluminum body only, then I'd investigate further though when you evaluate the aluminum work based upon that one pic provided by Paul.

Yeeesh that looks bad.

All the other shenanigans aside, that was my point. $10k isn't a big difference at that price range, but the difference in quality is poles apart. It would need to be half the price to make any kind of sense in my view.

Some people can't help but dig themselves into ever deeper holes.

It's been fun watching him dig though.

So I don't have to type this twice, my answer to Buzz (copy and paste from the Texas section of CC)......

I HATE guys who are lying - no matter what their craft and how good they are. I hate when people get lied to and sucker money out of them. I will defend the honesty of the US manufactures and hart working guys.

The hard working guys who dreamed about the Cobra for years and years, the guys who sent their kids to collage - not before they build a house and provided a home.
The guys who can't tell the wifes what some parts of the car cost. The guys who take second jobs to make sure nothing is taken from the household money.

These guys need a shield, I'm a part of this shield. When such bad individuals come along and try these stunts ---- I'm there.

Now back to your suggestion, there is no reason to see this shop. I'm in one all day long. 1000 mile trip for a great beach - always --- 1000 mile trip to see a choleric man and his rented shop......nah not so.

You have been asked for proof and pics repeatedly. You have failed to provide them repeatedly.

Speaks volumes.

Come back with proof or you are wasting your time here.

Friendly suggestion.
