OK, sit in a Kirkham, an ERA, and an SPF. A "butt-in-seat" test is absolutely mandatory and, under no circumstances, buy a car sight unseen. You should also start letting in to your head the notion that a Cobra just might not be the car for you.

I can't remember the last time a Cobra buyer cross-shopped between a BDR and a KMP. Can you? My memory says NEVER.

He needs to get an appreciation for the alignment of the seat to pedals and, I thought, the configuration of having the MCs above your feet, or below. I think that KMS, ERA, and CSX cars are the only ones with the MCs below the foot box... but I may be wrong on that. All in all, I don't think a Cobra is right for him anyway....

I had an interested buyer who talked for an hour about wanting a super-original... and after a few days silence, let me know he bought a BDR. I'm not quite into KMP territory but it was... puzzling.
I think a lot of first-time buyers are deeply confused about the differences. It just doesn't make sense until you've swum in the pond for a while.
