Wow doggin the Chevy's cutting corners because its a Chevy..Tuff crowd,I thought it was personal preference as to the mill you run under the hood.I love the newer LS series engines.Even if its a Gen1 engine they can make tons of ponies and be very relieable.From Crower the Billet Crank was the Same price be it Ford or Chevy..
To many pissin matchs go on between car guys.It should be about the Love of our Hobbie/Sport..

It doesn't really bother me. The car is an Arntz and was designed to have a Chevy engine. One was in it when I bought it. I thought about changing it, but with the rapid decrease in car values in the past few years, it would probably be cheaper to sell it and buy another one with a Ford engine. Chevy engines are basically cheap horsepower.

In 1980 on the way down to the Long Beach GP, my buddy and myself stopped by to meet Steve Arntz about possibly buying a car. The car he had that we looked at was a SB Chevy and it looked nice. If I had bought one then, it would have had a BB Chevy in it. Hell, even when I bought this one, I was still thinking along the lines of a BB Chevy as I was familiar with them and how to get the HP out of them.
The way I look at this, is they are not original cars, so do what makes you happy.

I like the small Fords best and if i went with a BB I would prefer a BB Chevy
over a FE myself. It's what woulda/coulda/shoulda been in there anyways .

I don't think I have ever experienced snubbing or being snubbed - then again I'm usually talking to someone and don't pay attention so maybe I just haven't noticed.
My point, I guess, is that who gives a flying damn what small minded people do or say? Ignore the ba$tards!

I hope not,,, but joyridin's typo, mph vs mpg, was just to easy to pass up!

Funny,there was a rube in town running an FE in his Car and thought his dung smelled good.So, did what needed doing,asked him to step up to the plate and show me what it was made of.Some reason he did not want to prove a point.Too bad because I'm one to socialize,and quite curious to hear about someones pride and joy.

I shure think originality has its place,we caught it for running the 351/408 insted of a 289 but we all have our own Ideal engine setup.If your runing on track comparing results the proof is often in results.Were the car shows is a hole other deal.

Actually, your right, a Chevy is right at home in an Arntz/Butler replica model. Kind of like JBL and some other's, this a model that was not constrained by any particular "standards", but was a new interpretation of the original. I find the extreme setback of the engine (regardless of what it might be), which results in a rather large interior compartment intrusion, to be a bit uncomfortable for my taste. An interesting car, those Arntz/Butlers.

Funny, the dings and dents actually seem like more of a badge of honor than a knock as to me that means the car is being driven and enjoyed...
I was at a cruise in this summer and among the different Cobras parked there, I saw a little 289 slab side. It was dinged up, paint was oxidized, the interior was shot, the seat leather was completely worn out and ripped.... in other words it was PERFECT! I kept looking at it and even crawled under the front end to be sure and realized it was an original. About that time, the owner came along and I had a great talk with him. He bought it new when he was in college and just drove the heck out of it the entire time he owned it and it showed. The guy was a real hoot to talk to and the car showed the "love" he had for it, unlike many of the "trailer queens" it was parked next to that weren't worth 20% of the value of the little beat up 289 and never got driven except to and from the trailer. Having the owner just be a real car guy was a real bonus on that night....

Amen Bob. I took a cruise yesterday and stopped for some coffee at a DD. Three older guys on Harleys pulled in next to me. The first guy off with his helmet says "WOW, That is in-freakin-credible. Is that real?". Me - "no, it's a kit" Rider - "still in-freakin-credible. I bet you don't drive it much." Me- "Actually I drive it every chance I get. Over 76,000 miles in 10 years" We all stayed and chatted for about 30 minutes talking about bikes and cars. One of them explained that my car was like a four wheel Harley. Thats when I knew they really "get it". I've got some serious patina going on and I love it all.

As long as this blue ball turns there will be those that feel the need to speak their piece good or bad.Sometimes things said stir the soul a little,most of the time do not pay any attention.All my toys were hard earned and the pride of ownership will not be taken away by an errant flapping of the gums.Too easy to turn and and walk the other way,like closing a book.

I WAS a member of the 'Cobra Club Of South Africa' for 19 years. In that time I built a cobra from a kit, and subsequently made three cobras from scratch, including chassis, suspension etc., using some 'donar' parts
Without mentioning the first two, I attended a club function with my third prototype (see gallery) last month, the chassis and suspension of which I humbly need to mention, I designed and made myself. The plug I sculptered, from which a mould was made and subsequently the body.
I'm certainly not a glory hunter, however, one would expect at least a comment or two, even if it were in the form of critisism, not one, in fact most of the members present hardly even glanced in the direction of my car. A month later I drove to a friend in Pretoria (50 miles from here), Six cobras arrived and the owners were all over my car with comments, questions, praise and critisim. I had difficulty getting away from there, with them wanting to take foto's.
You see now why I "WAS" a member of the 'Cobra Club Of South Africa'?

99.9% of cobra owners and folks just looking at the car love them and love to talk to you about how great your cobra is, the other % just are Ass****!
Nothing makes them happy...too bad, so sad, nanner nanner.

Dam, that is a nice looking ride Dubb. That thing really hugs the ground. With the swept back window and all, it's sinister. Then I looked at the frame/suspension work, whoa, it just keeps getting better.
Check this out, reversed shocks and IRS, impressive details.

Comedian Groucho Marx was once asked if he was going to join a golf club when he moved to Hollywood. He replied "I wouldn't want to join any club that would have me as a member!". He was quite the philosopher. Those attitudes come with the territory. Just ignore it, and realize how fortunate you are to own 'any' Cobra.
