Good news, and Crap news! You have two right frame mounts. The new motor mounts work fine but they will not fit in anyway shape or grotesque form on the left side. I am going to have to remake the left mount which of course will not be powder coated. I can have it powder coated here but chances of being a match are very negative. I can send it to you once it is made and have you re-coat it?

I give up for awhile trying to post pictures from thie VISTA machine! Everytime I do it it seems to be different, One day it takes me 5 minutes for the entire journey, today after an hour I gave up. I know...you don't pay to hear me whine, just let me know what you want to do with this frame mount. Everything else is good, all the front accessory's arre in place, a new oil filter had to be gotten to fit this tremote and all looks very good, including the overflow.

CR 1 changed mounts and frame brackets, Don changed mounts and frame brackets, and I am left in the cold on this one- sorry.

WOW!!! %/ We're still not catching a break on this one. First bushing of all shapes and flavors, expensive side louvers from Australia, a hunt for a roll bar and now 2 right frame mounts....

Go ahead and make what you need to get it right and then I'll have you ship it to my powder coater and have him put a rush job on it, like he did on the rear lower arms. Looks like this puts us back in a holding pattern to getting the engine mounted

Kawika 08-06-2008 06:55 PM

Hey Capt that is the same trouble with mine two right side mounts, I made up one for the left. The part that you are trying to get, I have found it to be called a " flywheel cover " BUT I can't find one that will fit a ford only GM. I am in need of the same part .if I find it Ill let you know where. if you find it let me know where. we are very close to the same place on our cars, This site and your thread and of course good old DV. have really helped to get this far thanks again. Dave

Smike740 08-06-2008 07:39 PM

Hey DV double check the mounts. I put my kit together in 2003, at that time you used 2 of the same side engine mounts. For whatever reason Don made the weldments to use the same mount on both sides. If you have a right/ left set it should be no problem you just need to move the mount locating stud (not the stud with the nut) so it fits into the CR II supplier weldment. I don't remember if my mounts were from prothane or energy suspension but in either case the hole was already there to move the stud to. Hope this makes sence.

Thanks,

Mike

double post

Double Venom 08-07-2008 05:22 AM

Mike, yes Don did try to simple up the problem when one Ford mount became unavailable, but using Energy Suspension mounts they give you the correct left and right mounts which will not fit Dons frame mounts. You can simply re-drill the frame mount but you have to be carefull on some of these. When that is done and you bolt everything up the actual motor mount is more than half NOT supported. A lttle nights sleep with this old gray cell finally came up with the easiest solution for my problem, cut the gusset out, cut the top angeled mounting plate off from the bottom, turn the top plate over, drill a new hole for the alignment button on the engine mount, re-aling everything back up and re-weld the gussett back in place. Powder coat and bolt in. Just another little glitch to deal with!

Now the only thing that may be a problem is the MARCH alternator bracket.; May have to exchange for a shorter one? We'll see.

Hopefuly this will cheer cpt eddie up a little......

IN front: Gas Fliter, next oil filter, next Cpteddies custom powder coated candy apple red over flow bottle- All hose/fittings to be put in today. (These are all mounted to the custom front bracket I make to fit behind the fan-in front of the motor.)

Looking good DV!!!!

I must say it is a little depressing with all these issues we keep having with this build. But if I step back and remind myself we are pretty much building a car from scratch and we don't have the ability to confront Don about all these issues, its not that bad.

I'm going to be ordering some of these to dress up the -6 lines going to that sweet remote bracket you made and also some for the heater hoses.

cpteddie,
In all seriousness the glitches that are popping up by using, non-existant parts or custom upgraded parts are quite normal. Some times a pain, sometimes a pain and a lot more time but nothing a "gray cell" can't get around sooner or later! Remember the Willy's? He has some of those dual brackets on his steel lines, they do the job and they do look nice.

I know DV and your right, crap happens...

Thats why I said I have to take a step back and breath deeply every now and then. I know that when this does get finished it going to be one hell of a car :3DSMILE:

I'm going to hold off buy a bunch of those hose brackets till I come over on the 17th. that way I can get an idea how many we might need. ( they come in sets of 2 and are a little pricy %/ )

capteddie 08-07-2008 02:29 PM

Should we have gotten the other one? I thought thats what you were talking about. Thats why I got you on the phone with Mark.

Double Venom 08-07-2008 09:01 PM

LOL,
When Mark gave me the measurements of this thing I almost laughed. He insisted if I used it I would love its compact shape. It truly is half the size of my original one and is supposed to do more. I told him I was trying it tomorrow and if it didn't work as profiled he was getting it back. He said, "sure" but he had no doubt that I would like it. We'll see. I've bought stuff before from them and thay always seemd to be a straight shooter. What the heck, the more you spend the bigger his commission so why not try it?

Notching the frame so a C-6 KICK DOWN LEVER will work and A SHIFT INDICATOR LIGHT whose little computer sits on the right side of the C-6 hitting the right frame rail will fit..
Stay tuned,
DV

capteddie 08-08-2008 12:03 PM

DV,

Getting ready to place an order with Summit for the kick down kit and a couple of the hose brackets. Anything else you need?

Double Venom 08-08-2008 01:18 PM

YES!
Just called Patti at one of my old sponsors, "Made 4 You" products. I wanted a half dozen of 7/16's or 1/2 " double T-clamps in gray and asked her if they had such a thing, she said certainly. I told her you would be calling, gave her my address etc. Their phone # 760-868-6962 in case you don't have it. (Some simple changes while I've got the motor/tranny pulled.) Putting in the battery cables down the right side frame rail, using the new brackets to hold it all in place- much neater! If you want for me to use these she can still get them out today.
DV

PS.. I'll get the dust shield ordered, easy on easy off in case you ever want to get it powder coated.

capteddie 08-08-2008 01:44 PM

7/16 are not in stock. Patti did have 1/2 clamps on the shelf, so they are on there way to you. You should have them tomorrow.

Got you a couple extra, just in case you misplace 1 or 2 ;)
