I'll call him later today. I know that they wanted a lot at the one place that he was going to. I gave him the names of a couple of other places to get quotes from. I also priced the tubing (I can order it thru the shop I work at) so he could get a price on just the tube bending if that worked for him. Hope everything works out for you and him on this.

Ed,
I talked to Wetdog. He said that he is still working on the rollbar with the tube benders.

Cpt Eddie,
Glove box did come in. Looks good, about a 1/3 larger than stock CR glove box but 1/3 better!

Can't find any more missing parts yet, but Hang in there! I'm sure I'll be asking you again where in the shop did I put something! Seen my coffee cup this morning?
DV

Tops: Are getting much more exspensive than I hoped. The "professional" machine shop says they have to make a new CAD drawing of all the bows so they can be made exactly the same by computer. Our limited quantity isn't helping much either. The top material will be greatly improved over the stock type material too. Still trying to beat CR's original price. Stay tuned...............
Top note* If you are aware of CR's side windows you will note that only the bottom has a zipper which only allows you to "Un-zip" stick your hand out, get your coffee, very carefully through the drive up window. Rather awkard. The Upholsterer wants to add a zipper similiar to a jeep; the sides and top come un-zipped so that when you do unaip it the window will be allowed to completely fold down over you interior door panel. Or a full 360' zipper, allowing you to leave the frame and remove the window itself leaving the entire frame in place?
Comments? This will add to the cost but uncertain as to how much at this point?

Thanks for the update DV!!!

You left your coffee cup on the bench by the drill press ;)

Exchanged PMs with wetdog. He is still having a bar made, so it looks like we are back to a single bar setup. I told him that what ever it takes to get us one ASAP, would be no problem with me. I think the bar is the last major piece that involves body cuts, right?

You should have some things getting delivered early this week and I have a bunch of finish trim pieces coming from Finishline. I'll bring that stuff over in a couple of weeks.

Cheers!

This should put a little bounce in Cpt Eddies steps!

Motor is in minus motor mounts :) Shifter is in - It is your thoughts in Cobra building that "ASKING FOR FORGIVNESS IS BETTER THAN ASKING FOR PERMISSION, right? (Eragon!) :3DSMILE:
DV

capteddie 08-02-2008 02:19 PM

Does that have anything to do with your other post to huckleberry about the shifter location? I'm all about what you think is best and your experience.

You do what you think is best and works well for the build.

(posted from my iPhone, sitting on the runway in NJ. technology is cool!)

Double Venom 08-02-2008 02:57 PM

Just so you know, when the boot is in place you will NOT see or feel any difference in the shifter!. It truly works s m o o t h!
DV
Now if I could just learn to use all this technology!

Double Venom 08-05-2008 04:26 AM

Cpteddie,
Tuesday AM- no motor mounts last night. Hoping they come today. Pulled out the mounting bracket I made, addded a mount and brace for the overflow, mounted the hardware and electronics for your electric indicater "gear" indicator, added and reinforced a remote oil filter adapter. Adapted the linkage and mount for the shifter along with the tranny tunnel. The motor is now ready to go in permanantly! Ordering two sets of "Cool Flex" and fittings along with the fitting for the oil adapter and lines today.
Moving on........

DV
PS, talked to Eric and he is working on your roll bar, sounds like a great piece, he knows I'll be ready for it soon.

Thanks for the update DV!!! Sounds like things are starting to come together. You should have some stuff showing up today, I hope. I'll try and track the motor mounts when I get to work.

Who is Eric? Eric=wetdog?

Double Venom 08-05-2008 06:10 AM

Oh OK cool.

:3DSMILE: Wetdog anything I can do to expedite the delivery of the roll bar, just say the word :3DSMILE:

DV,

I'm tracking the motor mounts now. As soon as I know where there at, I'll post the info. Anything else you need me to do or get?

Double Venom 08-05-2008 10:43 AM

The only thing of concern at this point is a quality "Dust Shield" for the tranny. Mr Gasket is not quality and will rust out before one summer is over! Checking with Chad now for that piece but if you can find one, even a Ford one, we'll be set to go. Hate to run the car without one, but you can.
DV

Double Venom 08-05-2008 12:23 PM

NEXT: Who has anb OEM Ford 351 dust shield laying around? As you can tell I am not a real fan of Mr. Gasket stuff after they were bought out by Holley.

cpteddie, I / you can get a Mr Gasket shield off the shelf anywhere that sells car stuff. How about maybe buying the first one you find and have it gold anodized to match the tranny pan? Which by the way will work just fine! Still do not know about the hood-it's going to be close!
DV

capteddie 08-05-2008 12:32 PM

No matter how I do the search, I'm not coming up with anything close to a "transmission dust shield"

I've used keywords like C6, ford, 351, transmission dust shield...... And nothing. If someone can point me in the right direction, that would be great.

capteddie 08-05-2008 12:58 PM

DV,

Just got the tracking info on the motor mounts...

Tracking number 077978412018611
Ship date Aug 4, 2008
Estimated delivery Aug 6, 2008

That should be the last piece needed to see if we're going to have a hood clearance issue or not.

Still looking for that "dust shield" **)

Double Venom 08-05-2008 03:44 PM

Just got the "Spline", Choke cable and a really neat Jegs hat---dibs on the hat!
However; no motor mounts, at least not until tomorrow!

DV :)

capteddie 08-05-2008 03:47 PM

Ya... Sorry. Mounts should be there tomorrow.

JEGS hat is yours. I got one a couple of orders ago :D
