Hey Jeff,
If you find those early emblems reproduced anywhere, let me know. I'm looking for two. Larry |
Thought of your car when I was looking as these really nice photos.
1963 Team Shelby 289 Cobra Le Mans | Classic Throttle |
Great build!
I really enjoy watching the progress of this little 289…without a doubt she’s one of my favorites.
Keep up the great work! Hey *13*…. those really are great photos of 2136 – Thanks! Do you think we could convince Jeff to go with black instead? ;) . |
A couple bills & a case of beer in the hands of the right person might make the gun spray mysteriously black:D
|
The black is bad ass however Hertz Gold is also, old school looking........
|
I think it will be Awesome. I like That it is period & isn't blue with white stripes.;)
|
I met Anthony Boosalis a few weeks ago – very nice guy. He has (3) 427 S/C’s, one of which is mostly the gold color I think you’re talking about. Does this look about right Jeff? Gold will look really nice on your 289

Kurt
Yes there were two Gold 427's one is Anthony's CSX3047 and the other is my friend Wayne's CSX3021. I have a match part from 21 that I will use. CSX3021 http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/9725/dsc0529j.jpg |
I don't know, that rear fender is very Unique Roadsters;)
|
You talking about my rear or 21's?
Continued drilling this weekend. Almost ready to block the car! Installed wipers and Lucas DR3 motor http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...pictureid=8065 http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...pictureid=7893 Rolled scoop opening...... http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...pictureid=7892 |
21, are you going to run vipers? I have them on mine, I don't know why I felt I needed them on, but I do.
|
21 has S/C lip as normal?
Ok, you got me......... Vipers? |
Just thought 3021's rear fender looked a. Lot like unique roadsters. They must have copied the look.
WindshieldVipers, my poor attempt at the German accent.. |
Yah, that picture has funny look....
Here is better one........ http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...pictureid=7895 |
I like it. It's very "Vintage Cobra" yet not so common. Would look good with black stripe & meatballs too!
|
That car is gorgeous! Can't wait to see your progress.
Regards. |
Spent the bulk of the weekend running for hardware and parts. Chromed brass hardware is not all that easy to find, but it was a success.
Thanks Joe helping with: Drive Shaft Safety loop http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...pictureid=7905 Also made the roll bar receiver...... http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...pictureid=7903 Ready for welder... Thanks to all watching... Next week off to SAAC37! |
Jeff - I've only caught the occasional post on this thread, so last night I sat down and read the whole 24 pages in one hit. What a great story! The idea of doing a Comp. 289 is really interesting; it's unlikely you would come across another one on the road. You're getting closer to the sharper end of the project, so it must be satisfying to see verything starting to come together now? I'm looking forward to the rest of the story.
Cheers, Glen oh, and thanks for the dash info :D |
Thanks
Hopefully off to paint next week................ |
Is that Carter Gette's gold car???
