Steve,
I am in Northern California. My times in Death Valley were when I was younger and we lived in Southern Calif. Also I didn't mind driving for hours then to go look at stuff.

Steve,
I live 7 miles from Shasta Dam. I used to go over to Hoover Dam when I lived in Southern Calif. That was way back when I was a young brat and would drive all over the country just to look around. That is why I am so familiar with Death Valley. I love going off to places off the tourist path and just looking around. Same here. I can go up to Lassen Park and spend all day in the forrest and not see another person if I want. And if I was still in really good shape, I could still climb up the trail to the peak. Now I know why we were having a hard time understanding what each other was talking about so far as the dams are concerned. I was talking about Shasta and you were talking about Hoover. But down inside they are much the same so far as taking the tours. Hoover is much taller. Shasta has the highest spillway.

Bingo
I though something was up.
We went accross Hoover when we were out that way.
So you are closer to the epacenter than I thought as well. Damn Ron, I told you that you need to get a fat lady so she would float if Ca. broke off into the big pond. I just didn't realize how soon it could be.

Don't mean to change the 'dam' subject.
I noticed something and was wondering if anyone else has too.
Below Kristen's aviator she says she is now a 'drag queen'.
She has been known as a lot of things below the aviator but this comes as a complete surprise to me.

Steve,
If it breaks off this far inland, I have a feeling that a lot more than just Calif. is going to be hurting. With the loss of weight on this side of the country the East Coast will sink as the lighter West Coast rises. Isn't Maine on the East Coast??
Ron
As for the quakes, I have been through so many that a tornado or hurricane scares me worse. I have only been through one each of those and it seemed as if they lasted for hours, but I doubt if it was more than minutes. In abig quake, you don't have time to get scared, and then you can run for cover before the after shocks.

pretty observant, Fred.
Ron, the 'seesaw' effect??? With the west coast gone, and the east coast sunk, wouldn't that make Texas just about the best place to be????

When I first moved here I would just look to see what every one else was doing when we had an earthquake. The best one was when I was staying at my mother in law's house. My brother in law was a freshman and had never seen the Exorsist and had watched it late in the night. Then we had one of those rolling quakes and my wife found him out in the hall staring at his bed. She asked him what he was doing and he told her, dead serious, his bed was possessed. I, of course, didn't even wake up.

It's a status thingy. Like fastest car in town...an amish town.
Read this to the tune of "The tonight Show"
Look, it's the Ron and Steve show, featuring this week the comments of Brent, Kristen and Mike. With an occational stop by from other noted CC members.
Now the back ground music fades and Ron or Steve talk about furtilizer or spelling.
We need ED!!!
You guys keep this thread alive.

Fred392,
Kristen is many things. She changes her Avatars and sayings often.
Kristen,
Texas would be about the pivot point if you can break off Mexico so it doesn't drag you down in that direction.
Tru,
Now that is funny. You must join in more often. By the way. can goats swim??

The National Guard is currently studying that problem and hopefully will have it under control by the time California falls off.

We don't really need to break off Mexico
With the see saw effect it'll get the washing of its lifetime. Heck it'll be all cleaned out. We could use the space from you "others' moving into God's country!
Just kidding if anyone from Mexico reads this. We truely need the labor here....................NOT!

Kristen,
I have been reading your Adventure and MisAdventure threads and the pictures are great. I like the one at the car show.
Ok, the moderator, CG, RB, DQ, or whatever else she is by now has spoken. No more talk of computers or feartilizer.
Brent,
I loved your story of the bed being possessed. So far only two quakes have woke me up when they happened. And it was the noise more than the movement that did that. When they had the last big one at Morgan Hill I got sea sick in the parking lot. It was the rolling type and I swear that pavement came in rolls like ocean swells for 2 minutes. I think the official time was 55 seconds, but that is long for a quake.

It takes a lot to wake me up. My wife had to wake me up early Sunday to tell me we were heving an earthquake. She found our 3 year old in the hallway laying down with her hands covering her head.

Don't worry, the water will wake you up as that part of the state sinks.

Since we are on the east side of the mountains, I think the inrush of water down here will push our house into Arizona somewhere near Tempe! Ya'll can go to Texas, I will still head north to the land of the big cheese!
