Thanks for that tip on the traction mr0077. That was no doubt a key factor that would have played more into Dan's hand than Tommy's.
By the way, do we know YET what freakin' tires Blitz is running on the Kirkham???? That has been a mystery since these two threads started.

A historical thread. The disbelief that Tommy was for real. The ups/downs of cobra supporters. It's been an exciting month of posts.
I hope there is a sequel.
Congrats!

I figure it's got to be the Goodyear slicks on page 2 of Roger Kraus's catalog. Click this link, then click on "Cobra Tires", then page 2. Those have got to be what he's talking about as they look like billboards but are slicks.

I'm actually curious about the cam in Blitz's car. Hydraulic or solid roller? Duration? Lift? LSA?

To make 715hp, I am sure it has a solid roller. The Kieth Craft FE's with hydraulic rollers usually max out around 650 hp.

As CW said, congratulations to both gentlemen, and thanks for sharing this great adventure with us.
Glad a great time was had by all, and everyone stayed safe.

If I remember correctly, it was a 511ci build, but I can't remember any disclosure on the cam. But I do think you're right.

I wonder if ol' Shell hisself got wind if this event. I'm sure he'd get a kick out of this. Forty five years of F1 technology and still Ferrari cannot beat the Cobra.

Great job Dan! Looks like you hooked up pretty good on that preped track!
Where are you guys thinking of doing the road course race? Any ideas yet?
Glad to hear that both you and Tommy kept the shiney sides up. Both of you guys sound like class acts.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

All I want to know is who's the person who voted after the race was done? I could be mistaken, but I could have sworn there were 98 votes before the race and 99 votes after the race.
Blitz? Tommy? Was it you?

Congratulations to both of you........well done !
Keith: did you publish the specs on the engine ?
David Kirkham: The journalist that interviewed you last year for the article in the New York Times Magazine. If I recall correctly, he was really impressed with the ride you gave hiim and the Kirkham, maybe he would write an article for publication in a major magazine or ?

Guys, fantastic thread! I heard the news when I was in Los Angeles at a photo shoot with Hot Rod Magazine.
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...269303&theater
Even the Hot Rod guys were impressed.
As for the New York Times...I told Matt Bai he was welcome any time to come by. Who knows what story he will write in the future.

Blitz, you and Tommy (if he's still in town) ought to join the Cobra guys at Cars 'n' Coffee tomorrow morning? I think it would be way cool if Tommy had his 458 next to your car surrounded by other Cobras, but would the Ferrari crowd disown him? Bring Jess and Elaine.
It's at 8-10 am a few blocks south of 215 on the east side of Eastern Avenue.
