I think Pace has taken everything to a new level, i havent spoken with anyone from the factory yet. There printed stuff available on line, reading some of the build threads seem to suggest they are working real hard to get it right and support their customers.

Yes indeed. Do NOT discount community assistance. If you buy any "common" kit you can get all the help you will ever need right here. For sure a good manual makes things easier and quicker, but so far there is no question regarding build which cannot be answered here - it's all been done before, multiple times usually!

I spent 2 hrs talking to Martin yesterday at the factory. If my memory serves me correctly there would of been 6 cars at the factory in various stages of build, others arrive on Saturday for stuff. You pay as you use from what i understand, specialist tools i think martin lets you use, hand tools spanners etc not sure. But overall a very supportive environment, saw all the ford v8's and a chev installed in chassis. Martin can custom fit stuff as well, or modify to your specific requirements. Typically no welding after the chassis is painted, you would be unlikely to hit a problem that hasn't already been dealt with. some cars have been there 12 months, obvious small volume supplier, but very attentive to the customer and totally supportive in getting the car finished.

+1 for Marty. He's a good operator and been a long time supporter of the Cobra community and Club.

The last time I checked out one of his chassis I was impressed. Very sturdy design. A Kenmer Cobra would be a good choice

I like the idea of building your Cobra with a group of people. But sadly I would never be comfortable with leaving my car in a public workshop, but that's just me.

Rang the wreckers today, FPV 335kw 6 speed man being sold off for parts, Motor/gearbox 18k, can import brand new for $17.5k not including gst and postage

Thought that was a bit steep for 2012 60000klm

Especially when you can buy a brand new LSA motor in the Crate for $11K which makes 430KW without breaking a sweat.

gee im half tempted to sell my l 98 and buy one of ls3 with the blower wonder how long my auto trans would live behind it tho ..

LoBelly, a flat plane crank would sound good. Have you ever heard one? They sound quite different to a the normal cross plane crank that V8's run. It's one of the reasons a Ferrari sounds the way it does.

But at 526 HP it's still 50HP down on the LSA

Gav, are you talking about the work around for bypassing the electronic safety's built into the Ecu?
I imagine an imported motor won't have that issue!

Crazy stuff, how can that be so cheap compared to the coyote, is the chev a lower spec motor from a technology perspective?
Appears to be 2v, single ohc etc

A new LSA for $11k with 430kw in a 1150kg (give or take) plastic bodied hot rod resembling a 60's car with a custom built chassis made of modern day materials, built for right hand drive using (most likely) digital gauges and wiring , anti theft measures, non cross ply tyres, possible gas shocks, retractable seat belts ......... It really is a no brainer when you look at it like this.

Finding someone who can do anything with a Ford ECU that is more advanced than resetting the service interval is a big task.
The factory Ford ECU's are not simple to reconfigure.

LS motors on the other hand will produce 1000 hp extra by just wiping the rocker covers with a rag and they are teaching pre schoolers how to use HP Tuners to tune up their Mums Club Sport wagon after they have done a cam swap for her.
