600 pages is fairly reasonable.....lol. I read the Pace manual on the flights home from work....1- it's super detailed, 2- Helps me fall asleep in a blink...

I can only speak for the early square tube manual, it seems good at first, but when you are actually into the build, it isnt real flash.
It does supply info regarding what donor parts to get, and part numbers, I think there was even some bolt tension specs in there.
I suppose it will all depend on how much assistance you need, and also the older builds (multiple donor/supplier vehicles) there is a large scope for variations.
But a kit like the Pace or I guess the F5 cars, because all the items are the same, it is a bit more like a production line product, so variations are much less, so it can say "run wiring loom along right sill and through 32mm hole into engine bay" but a more donor kit may just say "run wiring harness from cabin through firewall and into engine bay" (you need to figure out the how and where)
It is comprehensive, but not specific.

+1 for Marty. He's a good operator and been a long time supporter of the Cobra community and Club.

The last time I checked out one of his chassis I was impressed. Very sturdy design. A Kenmer Cobra would be a good choice

Cheers

I like the idea of building your Cobra with a group of people. But sadly I would never be comfortable with leaving my car in a public workshop, but that's just me.

Especially when you can buy a brand new LSA motor in the Crate for $11K which makes 430KW without breaking a sweat.

VF GTS HSV HOLDEN 6.2 LITRE SUPERCHARGED LSA V8 ENGINE (Comes with manual twin plate clutch)

Hey lobelly, do you think that would be MUCH more to buy than the coyote, lol

Sounds like it would be a bit of fun in a Cobra

Crazy stuff, how can that be so cheap compared to the coyote, is the chev a lower spec motor from a technology perspective?
Appears to be 2v, single ohc etc

I bought a Statutory Write-Off at a salvage auction. I had the whole thing stripped in three weeks (wife imposed limit) and got close on half the auction cost back by selling the unwanted bits on eBay. There are quite a few items other than the engine and gearbox that can be used, e.g. loom, ecu, diff, emission gear, cats, brakes, including booster, pedal box and master cylinders, even fuel tank and filler hoses Lots of stuff that are often a hidden cost when trying to work out an initial budget.

Go to a couple of auctions where they are selling what you want (or register on-line) and see what is the going rate.

I did the same. On-line auction. Stripped an SS ommodore, kept all wiring, engine, gearbox, diff, ECU etc. Sold most of the balance and that virtually paid for what I needed. End result was line-ball.

LoBelly, a flat plane crank would sound good. Have you ever heard one? They sound quite different to a the normal cross plane crank that V8's run. It's one of the reasons a Ferrari sounds the way it does.

But at 526 HP it's still 50HP down on the LSA

Cheers

Gav, are you talking about the work around for bypassing the electronic safety's built into the Ecu?
I imagine an imported motor won't have that issue!

Finding someone who can do anything with a Ford ECU that is more advanced than resetting the service interval is a big task.
The factory Ford ECU's are not simple to reconfigure.

LS motors on the other hand will produce 1000 hp extra by just wiping the rocker covers with a rag and they are teaching pre schoolers how to use HP Tuners to tune up their Mums Club Sport wagon after they have done a cam swap for her.
