Ok all, it's been fun, but I'm out. I said that I was done with being accused of being a liar. I think the others on the forum recognized that the race was real. Both Dan and I are pretty public figures and we explained when the race was going to be and what the terms are. I've not neither the need nor the interest to be subjected to claims like that. You'll hear about the race third-hand I'm sure. I'm sorry that I won't be posting the video and reports. But you can thank Machiavelli, who's obviously a genius, for that. Bye, Tom

It's been a fun read for sure, but I must confess, I would have thought a big time lawyer would have a little thicker skin - who knew?!!

Thicker skin? Pretty darn thick already if you ask me!! I'm surprised Tommy didn't blow this off within the first three pages, let alone hang in there for so long.
Thanks for your time with us here counselor, I and many other's really appreciate what you have done and are doing.

Hi Tommy,
I say you keep going... in spite of the doubters, and make them eat their words.
By leaving, I guess you feed their egos and give them credibility they may not deserve... they'll prance around proclaiming "I told you so - the lawyers a fraud".
I for one don't want to see that, or see you go.
Best of luck either way... stay safe!

Given the most recent disclosures, we have an attorney quite used to rolling the dice, and a Hye who is quite comfortable with high stakes card games.
I'm liking this more every damn day.

In the beginning, people understandably sought confirmation of the veracity of both the players and the race/bet itself. Henrik and Machiavelli either suffer from a reading comprehension disorder and have missed the posts that did just that or, like a couple of mal adjusted kids who don't fit in, they feel left out and try to draw some attention by crashing the party.
Keith Kraft posted early on that he knew both Dan (the Cobra owner) and his car and that the race was real. Other members, including myself have been in touch with one or the other of the players outside of this thread. Another member has been in contact with Tommy re: filming the race. Too bad a couple of jerks just had to blunder in and set out to ruin one of the most fun and epic threads we've had in a little while.
Oh well, I'm still working on juggling activities so I can make it to Vegas around race time. If the race is called off - and it could happen for a variety of reasons - like John said, what's so bad about a few days in Vegas?

END OF THIS NONSENS
Henrik
It's spelled "lawyer" and by golly, behind my computer, I actually am a big man. Some might say huge in fact.
I have a personal interest in this thread...I moved it here because I thought it would be fun. Obviously it has been to many folks on this site...so let's keep it fun.
If it offends you... get off the thread. If you need assistance, please let me know.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

Henrik...one thing that really gets under my skin is folks who go back and delete or modify their posts after they have been responded to (See the permanent thread: Read: Unscrupulous Modifiers And Other Evil Doers!!!).
Calling me a "fat ass" and suggesting that you will simply ignore a moderator (while exceedingly funny...I enjoy good humor) really truely does nothing to mitigate your actions. Verbally attacking the U.S. didn't help either.
Before your most recent actions, we had exchanged PMs and I warned you again to stay off the thread.
Enjoy some time off...

All, I appreciate the mod's response to the posters, and so I'm back. Just so you understand, I have no problem at all with anyone saying that this is a stupid thing for me to do, or that I'm going to lose, or anything like that. People can free to insult me to the moon in that respect. I'm just not interested in anyone accusing me of wasting your time by lying. I wouldn't do that. I appreciate the thoughtful commentary, and hilarious artwork. Best, Tom

Thanks Tommy, The race, the hype and most of all... yours and Blitz's fellowship are truely enjoyed (and believed) by the masses.

Great!
You guys should practise on your local tracks now!
Or are the cars already in transit to the event?

I'm not going to take sides on this so I will offer a few thoughts to both of you.
Tommy, the only likely scenario where you loose is that you red light on one run. That means you have to be very conservative with your starts. Practice is key! Without a fair amount of practice, your reaction time could be a full second if you are making sure not to red light.
Blitz, You need to be very aggressive with your starts. Red lighting one run is fine in your case. If you can cut a good light and Tommy has a 1 second reaction time because he is being careful not to red light and loose the whole thing, that could be the difference that gives you the win.
For both of you, practice is key. Get to a strip and practice starting. Look to reduce your reaction time as much as possible without actually red lighting. If you have no experience with a tree this race becomes a crap shoot based on who gets lucky with their starts.
When you practice, just practice the start, then lift after first gear. That will keep your times slow so that you don't get thrown off the strip and it will spare your cars.
Blitz, go out and practice 2-3 shifts. You don't need a drag strip to do this. Just do a bunch of them on a deserted road somewhere. Work on pushing the lever straight forward with your palm, with just a slight side load on the stick.
As an option for the race, since there is a significant chance that Blitz will be thrown off the strip for lack of a cage after one run if he posts a good time, have you considered renting an unused airport or renting an unused runway (That doesn't cross an active runway) at an operating airport?
Good Luck to you both,
Kevin

Welcome back Tommy. Just in case there are any doubters left, I took the liberty of posting some more photographic evidence.

Can someone clarify:
Thought that an ET of 11.49 and lower required specific safety features, such as full roll cage, 4 or 5 point seat belts, driveshaft loop, fire suit, rated helmet etc., etc., ? Or, only applies to sanctioned events, not private use of the track.
If so, might be only one run with track management banning any further runs if the ET is lower than 11.49 ?

Hi Don. At least at the track I'm renting, which is a place that runs sanctioned events, I'm ok so long as I don't drop below 10 seconds.

I've rented a couple of top NHRA tracks, and it's run what you brung, any speed, any time, any safety equipment. You rented it, you signed the waiver, the track is yours. Of course it would be foolish not to be prudent with safety.
