Sunday 10/24,
Out of the blue my x boss shows up at my house.
Says he was in the neighborhood and thought he would stop in.
I'm in the garage tinkering and as he enters the garage he is floored. He says what the hell are you building here. I say a Cobra replica. He says "you building that"? I say"what da phuck do ya want, I'm busy". He says "can ya help me out with a project I'm workin on?". I say "I'm really busy, and happy, so probably not". He says"whats it gonna take for you to help me out?" I say " leave and call me when I'm not busy". He left pissed and deflated. Iwill not return his calls, ever. He was a dick and told me to buy stocks in his IPO rather than a toy car. Glad that ass got fired and I am gloating furiously.
He got fired, I got happier and my new boss is a gearhead, life is really good. Does this sound like a dream come true? It is to me.
Jack

Hey, as long as you are getting more money, more time off and time to build there.. ...it sounds perfect.

The beast was up on jack stands, doing a few mods to the pre oil system before I move to Savannah, when a fella pulls into my driveway, gets out and wants to see her, sure, come on in. After a few minutes he wants to buy her, I suggest he build his own or pick up an unfinished kit but he wasn't interested in that approach, he goes on and on, how much, come on sell her to me.
A few minutes later he's on his way, without the beast and the worst case of pouting I've seen in a grown man.
Believe I'll keep her.....

I've had a few call in here at home, as we are on the road to the lake. I keep the door closed most days, but take it out to wash and drive..
Every now and then, I feel a bit un comfortable and find myself taking tags/registration details down.
Its amazing how people just walk into or onto your property because they have seen something that interests them.
Its good when you pick they are genuine enthusiasts though..

Halloween - The door bell rings. Open the door and there about 10 10 yr old boys. One says he a friend of one of the neighbors kids and wants to know if they could see "The Car". I said of course and opened the garage door. 10 minutes later they left chattering amongst themselves and grinning ear to ear. After they were gone, I realized I hadn't given them any candy in the excitement.
Or maybe I did.

Was driving the Cobra thru town, and had stopped at a crosswalk to let pedestrians cross the street. I see this elderly woman crossing in front of my Cobra with a big smile. She stops in front of the Cobra, leans over, and pats the Cobra on its' nose,
and tells me "What a beautiful car! Good luck with it!".
Its times like that which makes the Cobra experience even more worthwhile!

Hey Everyone,
This happened just last week. We finally had a few warm days here in Upstate N.Y. so I thought I would take the Cobra out for another "Last run of the year" run . I had stopped at a light at the center of a small town just west of where I live. A kid with an Eclipse with all of the wings and assorted useless ground effects pulled up next to me. The passenger window slides down and an absolutely beautiful girl leans out and says "That thing is gorgeous! Is it real?". "Thank You and No.", I replied noticing that the teenage guy driving the Eclipse was less than impressed by his girlfriends reaction. I instantly knew what was probably going to happen next. I decided, however that I was going to do the right thing and just drive away normally and not endanger the locals or myself. The light changed and he did what I expected. I slowly pulled away smiling knowing full well who really had won that round .

I was having my pinon seal replaced at a local shop. While there the owners had pictures taken of the car and put on the front of their calendar and in the downtown paper.

I was cruisin' around a couple of weekends ago when we had a exceptionally warm Sunday here in NJ. I have nothing specific, but I received an extraordinary amount of "thumbs" and "waves". Over 25 by my account, and I started counting after 10. Awesome day! I love this damn car.

Sorry for all you "snow-birds" back east and up north, but the temperature was in the 80's down here in sunny SoCal, and of course I HAD to cruise the Cobra along the seaside town of Malibu, along Pacific Coast Highway!
Untold numbers of "thumbs-up", lots of waves from younger kids on their bicycles, many many smiles from other drivers as they looked down into the Cobra interior, and I waved back, nodded my head, and smiled at all the admiring glances beamed our way!
Lots of older street rods were out cruisin' at the coast this weekend, and we exchanged waves and smiles with them as well!! Heck, even the bikers were waving and smiling as well!

I've got two interesting ones.
Now I've only had my BDR for a few weeks really, been trying to put some miles on it before it snows. I get mostly thumbs up from people, but this threw me for a loop. First I'm sitting at a red light minding my own business when a girl in a SUV makes a left on the opposing green and passes right in front of me. As she passes close, she rolls down her window and yells "Asshole!!" What the f- did I do to her?
This next one is priceless. I'm cruising at a good clip on a local 2-lane when I pull behind a Z06 that's got slow traffic in front of it. He keeps looking in his mirror at me. I put my turn signal on because I'm on my way to visit a friend at the next right. He puts his on too. As soon as we get to the road, he turns and guns it, but he didn't know that they had just shaved the road in prep for re-paving. It's covered in loose gravel. I back off before he sprays me with rocks and he proceeds to spin himself 1/2 off the road and into some large rocks lining the left side. He caught it and drove away, but I'm sure only so I wouldn't see the damage he did to his car. This much fun in 3 weeks! I knew it'd be good but this is silly!

My son and I were driving through an upscale shopping area in Kansas City when we stopped to let a Mom and three teenagers cross the street. After they got on the sidewalk the Mom jumped back into the street infront of us. She yelled "That is the coolest car I have ever seen. I don't know what it is but it is the coolest car I have ever seen." The mortified teens pulled her back onto the sidewalk.

On my way to the SCAT Christmas party, and flying along I-635 in Dallas. Came up behind this brand spanking new Corvette. Very pretty, dark, sleek, and I sat behind him for a few seconds. Hopped around him, a little quicker, and he sat behind me for a few seconds. Then he found an opening, and as he took off, really fast he waved at me; I waved and then he went flying down the highway! Fun! We were both grinning from ear to ear, each thinking (I'm sure) that we had the best car....
Coming home from same party, and this brand spanking new Cobra mustang was going opposite direction from me, on a street near my home. He had the top down, and it was bright yellow. Well, I turned onto a street, and next looked in mirror, and there he was; he'd done a 180 and followed me. Caught up, and as we rode side by side he yelled " that a kit car?" I hollered back, "no, it's a replica". He nodded, and we rode side by side for about 1/2 a mile, looking each other over. When I went to turn to go home, I honked, waved and off he went. Of course it's a replica, goofus! Like how many people have an original???
Fun day, tho!!!!

Many thumbs up and people following me until I would find a place to pull over and stop.
Got to see some great cars and had some really interesting conversations. One asked me what the difference was in a replica and an Imitation? (Where is Evan when you need him). Any of these cars just really create a lot of interest and I thought one of the neatest things was when I had mine parked with some Mustangs and other cars, a guy came up sith his son who was around 5 or 6 years old. The kid headed straight for my car yelling Cobra, Cobra, over and over and ignored the rest. His Father asked if he could sit in it as he looks at all of the pictures of themn in the magazines and I took several picturtes of him in the car and gave them to him. Boy, was that one happy little boy. Also made me feel good.

It really amazes me at how many people roll down their windows at stop lights when it is less that 40 degrees outside.

Was at the local Saturday nite car "gathering" when a man and his 8 y.o. daughter were taking pictures, with the daughter standing in front of the cars.
She was rather shy, and when I asked them if she wanted a picture of her sitting in the Cobra, her eyes got really wide, and she had a big smile on her face as her dad snapped the photo!
She was literally skipping to the other cars after sitting in the Cobra!
Yesterday, as I was cruising in the West L.A./ Beverly Hills area, a stunning blonde in a Porsche convertible smiled at my Cobra, and said "Your car is really TIGHT!"

Recognition comes hard this time of year up here in the woods of the North East (Upstate NY really, but I liked the opening line) . I had a guy come over to remove several feet of snow from my roof because of ice damming problems. When he came through the garage he stopped dead in his tracks and pointed to the car sitting covered in the right bay. "That an MG?". "Well ...No, want to see?" I pulled the cover back and his jaw hit the floor. "I never thought I would ever see one of these, must have set you back a bit". It was then I knew he thought it was an original. I left him in the dark for a few minutes so I could enjoy the ego boost for a little longer. I told him about the build and then he told me about the 635Csi Bimmer he is restoring and we ended up talking for sometime. We decided to go crusing this summer and meet at a local car show that happens evry Wednesday night.

I recently had my cobra in the local "world of wheels" car show, and it was a hoot. A lot of people had very positive comments. Even though my cobra is no trailer queen, she cleans up pretty good. Some people were shocked that it was a driver? Another guy in town had a 4000 series in the show and a local news crew made out like it was a $400,000.00 original, wonder where they got that idea? LOL
